Can I get my DVC AP and TIW card when I arrive, or does it need to be ordered before hand? Thanks

You can purchase both when you arrive. You'll need to go to a guest relations desk at one of the theme parks or downtown disney. Don't forget your dvc membership card and your photo ID.

If you order your DVC-discount AP beforehand, you still have to go to guest relations at a park or DTD to get the actual AP (and it's challenging to find the link on the member site). You do get a voucher in the mail that will allow you to get access to the AP section of the WDW website (not that it's much better than other areas of the WDW site). It's easy to get the TIW card at GR either way (or you can pre-order it as well, once you have AP info -- not sure you can pre-order both at the same time). (I like to prepay as much as possible, altho I do put some stuff on the ole Disney Visa for those little rewards "dollars" ahead of time, esp. big items like all our APs) (I don't want to mess with calling DV while on the trip to add a few more rewards points to my card -- what I charge during the trip ends up being used on the next trip! [probably not very practical]).

Thanks, I think I will just order them on the DVC website, then do the TIW card. Can I go to any Guest Relations for the TIW card, or do I need to go to a specific one?

I did finally find my old passes, but have no clue how many days are on them. Is there a way to find out before I go on vacation? Can I call somewhere, or go to a Disney Store (not even sure if our mall still has one!!), it would be nice to not have to buy passes! But the AP and the TIW are sounding pretty good as I have not been able to get ANY ADR's!!! leaving 8/26!! maybe it's a little short notice!! haha

You can go to any guest services location including the ones at Downtown Disney.

Do you get the card instantly at Guest Relations? I ask because we have an ADR at the Yachtsmen Steakhouse for the night we arrive and would need to use it. We are staying at BCV and could walk over to the International Gateway to get it, if available there? Another question, if I end up ordering it via the phone, I want it to expire the end of October 2010...when should I call to order it and still get it before we leave on Oct.10th? Thanks!

Yes, at Guest Relations, and instantly. I would just buy it in person.

Thank you, I will probably get it this way. Is it a paper that they give you at GR or is it the actual card? I've always gotten mine ordering over the phone but I think this might even be easier and I won't have to worry if it is going to arrive in time and trying to figure out when it expires. We like to get two trips worth out of it. ;)

The ones you get at GS are made of the same material as the park tickets.

Is the plastic ones that I have seen issued to your home address?
We are thinking about going to annual passes on our next trip.

Yes. Those that ordered by phone, fax or mail for home delivery got plastic cards. I don't know if they still mail out plastic ones or have switched to the tyvek cards they print at WDW.

Yes, it will be an actual card similar to tickets/APs, printed with your name. For reference, I bought mine on 11/19/08 and the expiration is 12/31/09.

Just don't lose it cause you have to pay to replace it. :)

Thanks for answering my earlier question. I now have another couple about APs: -
When buying over phone, email or fax does it start from day of issue or day of first use?
Can we attach AP to Key To The World Cards?

Thanks in advance!

and in addition to my wifes question..is there any benefit to getting a TIW card if we are dvc members and AP holders?

No, you can't.

The TIW card is good for 20% off your entire bill - including alcoholic beverages - at all participating WDW restaurants and bars (most TS and bars at WDW, and some CS - not many). for the cardholder and up to 9 other persons. If you will spend more than $375 on food and drink at participating restaurants over the course of a year, then there is a benefit to getting one. That is how much outlay it will take for the cumulative amount of the discount to make up for the $75 membership fee for one year. There are 8 blackout dates, usually major holidays. There's also an automatic 18% tip added for all transactions except counter service restaurants.

APs can be purchase by phone, on-line or at WDW. If you purchase by phone or on-line you will select either will call or pay to have an exchange voucher mailed. You would take that exchange voucher to guest services and get your actual AP. Your time begins when you exchange. The phone, fax or mail that I referred to was for the Tables in Wonderland card.

The TiW (Tables in Wonderland) card is a discount program that gets you a 20% discount at most table service restaurants and counter service at resorts that don't have table service. It's only available to Florida Residents ($100) and Annual Passholders ($75).

counter service at resorts that don't have table service.

So far, it's also accepted at the counter service at SSR and the three Disney-owned CS at Animal Kingdom Park. (These places added table service restaurants since the start of the discount program, but their CS were never taken off the eligibility list for TIW and the cards are indeed still good there)

thanks :) now i just need to find out when they start from (date of purchace or first use) as id like to order them over the phone a few months before we go but wouldnt want to lose the time on them, would be great if we could order them so they start from the first day of our vacation :confused3

If you pre-purchase your annual passes, the time doesn't start until you get your actual AP at WDW. They don't mail out active APs.

For the TiW card, you have to already have an AP to purchase by mail. TiW cards purchased by mail are active when sent out. They are generally valid for 13 months.
