Hi all,

New member to the forum and seriously considering joining DVC at SSR. It seesm to me that for us folks in the UK, the biggest disadvantage has to be the flights and the cost associated with them during kids holiday periods.

Taking account of this though, i wonderered how many people have regretted buying into DVC based in the UK?

Thnaks in advance for any help.

Kam

Hi Kam Welcome to the DIS

I am going to pop this over to the UK DVC Board for you :)

PS I :lovestruc my DVC

We haven't had our first trip home yet.

but

No regrets so far. Not even when the bill for annual dues arrived!

Hi Kam

No regrets so far.

Our first trip home will be in August, the flights were expensive but even package deals cost more during school holidays. We will be tied to school dates for the next five years or so but in the long run we will be able to go at cheaper times of the year and having DVC means we have many years of Disney fun to look forward to.:D

We used our first points for a trip to DLP last August and had a great time but I can't wait for our first trip 'home'.

No regrets here either - just the one you'll hear mentioned quite a lot; that we didn't buy sooner ;)

That may sound glib, but I feel our WDW enjoyment as a family probably peaked about two years before we bought. That's certainly not to say we don't enjoy our trips now but, as our DDs grow older I can see the way we visit WDW is changing. But that's also another reason for enjoying DVC - it's versatility.

Yes, the flight costs are prohibitive sometimes, but that would be true whether we were going to Florida to stay in our DVC accommodation or to a regular hotel or villa. We'd have to get there somehow!

No regrets, as has been pointed out, if you've got kids you're tied to school holidays for their school "lifetime", IMHO it doesn't matter much if you're going to Florida or Europe, you get fleeced on the price of a holiday in schooltime, destination doesn't make much difference. Once the kids are grown you'll have the double bonus of being able to get cheaper flights AND a lower points cost per night for your rooms :D

Only regret we have is that we didn't do it the first time we heard about it!

Flights are expensive in school holidays, but that would be a problem anyway, our holidays to WDW now work out cheaper than my friends pay to go to Spain, and we're staying in Disney Deluxe accomadation.

Regrets??? not a chance :)

We bought in 1994 and never had any regrets for a moment, we can go when we like as the kids are now adults but one mention of going to disney and......o boy...can we come as well dad......I guess that will never change

Our only regret is that having so many other lovely holidays, we can't go often enough. We would never give up the other lovely places we go to like Far East, Maldives, Caribbean etc but we get to "do" WDW as well. Still, our kids get to use our points when we can't use them.

Many thanks for all your replies...all positive!!

We were in WDW in January 2004 for our 8th trip and had to cut short as my father-in-law was taken ill. We did however get the chance to look into DVC again (Previously looked 1996).

So we have been pondering since and we are going back to WDW on the 23rd May 2004 to have a look around SSR and hopefully fully sign up. I paid the deposit already over the phone so just the balance to pay if we decide to do it.

Fingers crossed!!
