We have been members for more then 10 years, I thought that we might get a postcard or even a small memento to mark the occasion! But nothing! Don't get me wrong I love the DVC, but I think a 10 year anniversary is worth acknowledging!
I know that there are other 10 year members out there, just wondering if you received any thing to mark your anniversary? I guess I shouldn't complain since this is probably one way to keep the yearly dues down! I am just a little disappointed, especially since we just did an add on at the BCV, I feel like we are forgotten!

Happy anniversary! :)

I never had the impression that DVC would mark individual members' anniversaries of membership.

Instead of gifts, how about we just use this thread to congratulate you? ;)

:earsboy: :earsgirl: I agree. We also are 10 year members and also thought something should have been mentioned. Right after we bought our timeshare we sent our Darling Daughter and Favorite Son In Law on their honeymoon to OKW. They loved it so much they bought also! I was a little disappointed in Disney.

How much would you be willing to pay for a card or gift to commemorate ten years as a DVC member? We pay the costs of operating the DVC resorts (and those DVC expenses that are shared across DVC resorts) through our annual dues.

Unless Marketing wants to pay for it out of their budget in hopes of selling add-ons, I wouldn't be interested -- even if it only cost a few dollars.

I'm much more interested in seeing the DVC budgets applied to keeping the resorts in good shape and giving us a great vacation experience whenever we stay.

We past 10 years earlier this year and didn't receive anything to commemorate the occasion. Like the other posters mentioned, I doubt Disney would send anything out of their budget, any other way it would be added into our dues. It would have been nice, but I wasn't expecting anything.

I agree with Horace.

I don't expect anything other than to keep the DVC resorts in great shape.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Great vacations, great resorts and a "Welcome Home' when we arrive!
That is all I want from our DVC.

OKW91 - Happy Anniversary.
We are members since 93. It would be nice to receive a card, but with so many members, I'm sure the costs to do this would be prohibitive. Besides, I think back and always smile that we made the decision to buy when we did and all the enjoyment DVC has brought us and that's memory enough. It's great to remember all the trips and memories and how much we have saved with those free passes. By the way, way back when we toured they took a picture of us at the Commodore House. We still have it. Did they do that when you toured and do you still have the picture? Again Happy Anniversary.

I think a ten-year anniversary is something to commemorate - A note congratulating a ten-year anniversary would not be out of line - DVC could even send it via e-mail & I think it would be welcome - Disney send us enough junk in the mail that we pay for - send less stuff asking us to buy more points and acknowledge the people who bought in when there weren't any buildings to show people. Disney sent around pins to commemorate the Wilderness Lodge and 9/11 - I am sure the cost of that was quite extensive.

Anyway- that is my 0.02 cents for what it is worth - Happy Anniversary!!

Freebies from Marketing, such as the DVC license plate or a pin announcing a new resort, don't come out of our dues. They're a way to build interest in add-on point purchases. The cost is paid by Marketing.

But member communications are paid for out of the dues. Although a 10th anniversary card, note or freebie sounds good on the surface, the cost of providing such an item is bigger than you might think. There's a programming effort, a design effort, cost of materials, cost of mailing, and cost of operations (mailings don't just create themselves). And upon receiving the item, most members would think, "that's nice" -- and throw it in the trash (unless it was something really good, in which case it would be even more costly).

My guess is that DVC has e-mail addresses for fewer than half the members, and most members have not opted in to receive e-mail from DVC. I think that recipients of 10th anniversary e-mail notes would not put much value in receiving them. If I got one, I'd think, "that's nice" -- and I'd immediately hit the delete key.

I'm not trying to be negative. I just think there are better ways to spend the DVC operating budget.

How many companies do you know that send a thank you gift after you've used their services for 10 years?

Disney is the most likely company to do this, and as a result they have a bunch of demanding, whiny customers who look a gift horse in the mouth. My mother taught me that it's impolite to ask for a gift, and taking that a step further, it's also impolite to expect one!!

We aren't 1st graders anymore, folks. We're paying for a service and we're getting what you paid for. If you occasionally get something above and beyond that, good for you! But that's just what it is: "above and beyond." Don't expect it next time and *certainly* don't get pissed when it doesn't happen.

Appreciate what you've got.

I am surprised that Disney didn't send out something to the 10 year members. They could of had some inexpensive pins made up with "10 Years of Magic" on them. What do you think it costs Disney to make a pin??? I'm sure it's less than a dollar for a basic pin.

One thing I think we all have to remember about the Disney Company and us DVC'rs is that Disney already has our money. They don't seem to be concentrating on the fact that we also spend a lot of money when we are there on vacation. I know that the money I am saving on my hotel room is still being spent on other Disney stuff.

I personally think that a small token of thanks is appropriate. In the long run Disney would of made money with it by keeping some of their most loyal visitors extra happy.

Frank;)
