DVC Annual Pass

What I am doing is buying what I need for the next trip (6 days). While I am there, I will see if the policy has changed, and I will bridge the ticket at Guest Services to an annual pass. If not, rinse and repeat for next trip.

This is our plan as well. Our AP expires end of April and we can't make it back until summer at the earliest. I'm just going to let it expire, but tickets and try to bridge it.

Getting back on topic here, I finally got a call back 2 days shy of a month after my initial call to repurchase our canceled APs, so I would definitely say they would need many more CMs before selling new APs.

I'm a week now waiting for the passholder recovery team to call me. At least I know it may not happen before we leave. Already booked a 2 week resort only trip for March. But did book some park dining reservations. Just have to remember to cancel them if I don’t get our APs purchased before March 7th.

Hello all - Glad to see DISboards still up and running! Question - Planning a 3 week trip to DVC in December. Need to use our points. A little disappointed that annual pass sales are on hold. As I see it best bet is to purchase three 7 day passes for everyone - super expensive. Is there a less expensive way to accomplish this? Any clue when DVC annual passes will be sold again?

If your AP expired after the parks reopened and you are currently within the “60 days before expiration, 30 days after” window to renew, you can renew. For example, our APs would have expired in October but were extended to March as a result of the closures. We are about to renew them (we are within 60 days before expiration).

If you are outside that window, you would have to buy new APs - but those are not being sold.

OTOH, if your AP expired during the time the parks were closed, you can call the VIPassholder phone number to be evaluated for eligibility to buy a new AP voucher than can be activated anytime before 12/31/2030.

You are still within your renewal window if they expired Jan 31st 2021. If they expired last year in 2020 and you did not renew then no.

But call soon as that 30 day window closes on Monday

Our Goldpasses expire 4/28 with the extension. We want to upgrade to platinum because of Xmas time blackout days. We are using existing passes for an April trip. Can we upgrade to a Platinum voucher while we're there,and activate when we go again in October? Hope this makes sense.

I was able to upgrade my Gold Pass to a Platinum last year in Oct when it expired. They gave me additional time on the new pass as well to cover the shutdown period. My new Platinum pass now expires in April of next year.

You can "renew" to a higher or lower level pass. You can "upgrade" to a higher level pass at any time. Be careful with the terminology. An "upgrade" would cost you the difference between you current pass and the new pass and be effective immediately. A "renewal" adds a year to your pass. When you renew at a different level, the current pass remains intact and the new level takes affect at your renewal date. This is important to understand if you need a higher level for the last few weeks of your pass; you can't just renew to a higher level; you'd have to upgrade your current pass.
