I am considering purchasing an AP during our next trip. I have read that I will need my DVC membership card to get the DVC discount.

Since we joined DVC many years ago, I am not sure I can locate my DVC membership card.

Anyone know what my options are? Is there any other way to show that I am a DVC member?

Jeff

No. The member ID is required to prevent abuse of the appealing member perk.

Contact DVC now to request a new card. May take several weeks. If it doesn't arrive prior to your trip, you may have to stop by the preview center at Saratoga Springs to get a temporary ID.

My DD got her AP right after we joined and we had not gotten our membership cards yet. We took a copy of our contract (one of the many) that had our names and address(es) on them. My DD is one of the owners on my contracts. It was not a problem. Had I known about getting temp card I would've tried that.

I went to the DVC Member site and purchased my AP's. The physical tickets were waiting for us at any park gate when we arrived. I only had to show my driver's license because I bought them on the member site.

I forgot my blue DVC member card back in my room when I went to get my replacement AP. So, the CM called DVC, and I had to talk to them and give them info that only I would know.
Now I always have that card with me..just in case.

When is your trip? Just call MS and request a new card...I lost mine a while back and it was no problem for them to send me a new one...there's no fee or anything...
It's good to have it with you....you never know when you might want it.

We are going in early April. We were not planning to purchase an AP, but it looks like we are going to make another trip to WDW later this year so it may make sense for us to purchase AP.

How long does it take to get a new card?

That is not the proper procedure. Guest Relations Cast Members are still supposed to verify the DVC member ID when vouchers are being redeemed. That is the only way to confirm that the person presenting the voucher is eligible for the discounted pass.

It usually takes several weeks. Last I heard, DVC does not print the cards in-house. They are batch printed and mailed by an outside vendor. The batches are usually run several weeks apart.

Call member services and at least get one ordered. It may arrive in time but ask what other arrangements can be made if not.

It would be advisable to have a plan in place rather than just assuming you will come across an accommodating Cast Member. The DVC AP discount is quite a valuable perk and they usually take reasonable measures to insure only eligible individuals can purchase.

Two years ago, my wife lost her card. We stopped by the sales center at Saratoga expecting to get a temporary card. To my surprise, they gave us the blue plastic card on the spot.

I ordered replacement cards weeks ago and am still waiting. Just bring along your member number. They will pull up your number and if your license matches the information, you are good to go. It is the DVC members that come with no information about their number that have more of a problem. It is not always easy to call DVC and have them verify your number on the spot.

It may not be proper procedure but it is the procedure that has been followed every time we've purchased our APs. We only buy on the website and get vouchers. When we go to redeem the voucher we are only asked for our DLs. I've never been asked for my membership card. Although it's always in my wallet.

I picked up our renewals in February after purchasing directly through DVC and they asked for the membership card. It's not the first time either.

I guess it's like getting different answers when calling MS. It all depends on who you get.

We too had to show the member card when I bought through the DVC website.

I had bought a voucher online on my last pass (will call) and they did ask for my member card at the window. The cm had to type my member # into her computer. So if you have a printout of the member page with your member # on it, they may accept that.

I always renew in person and have always been asked for my blue member card. They have to enter the info into the screen.

When you buy on line it is already established that you are a member, you only need yout drivers license to prove you are the person on the pass.

I have purchased online thru DVC site and for the last few year renewed online and this last time(just got pass 3/2/11) had to call because online renewal was not working..(for over a month) and have always had to show DVC card and picture DL.
