DVC Annual Pass vs 10 day pass, Best Deal with DVC discount?

We found the PAP is the best choice for us. We will be going for 2 weeks this year in July, and 2 weeks in June next year. We will have 20 park days, plus 4 water park days, at least 2 DQ days, and my DW and I will have a few PI days. I know this adds up to more, but I'm including hopping days as well.

The MYW with Park Hopping and Water Parks tickets are $340 each, and we would need 2 each of them to cover both years, so a total of $680. The PAP thru DVC was only $483! Quite the savings for us. Almost an $800 savings for the 4 of us. I know we could get discounts at places, but it still couldn't come close to the DVC price. :thumbsup2

We get the non-expiring 10 day hoppers because we usually want to go to the parks about 4-5 days on our 'longer' trips. Our trips are about 8-9 nights long.

gotcha :thumbsup2
i had thought you meant using the pass for one trip....:confused3 lol

we enjoy "no park" days also ~ my personal fav is reading a book by the pool in the AM (no crowds), outlet shopping in afternoon, then walking the BW & dinner at night :cloud9:

Ok, I'm ebarassed but I need someone to explain this to me? how do I get two trips per AP year by "staggering" if I only travel once per year?

Let's say I always go Jan 20th thru 31st. Is it possible to get two of these trips in on a single AP? Sorry for the dumb question.

Ok - this seems like a good deal, but don't we get free parking when staying at DVC? Also - I believe that with a disney visa you get the 10% at the world of disney as well. So for me the disney dining experience would be the savings, and the "cool kid" aspect :hippie:

Yes you do get free parking when staying at any WDW resort. I stayed offsite with friends this last trip. And yes, with a $25 min purchase, the Visa is good also. There are other benefits but, as I said before, it depends on what your pattern is.

I personally will be using AP's over the next 3 years, maybe more. Having said that, it is not stopping me from purchasing several MYW tickets to lock in the current prices. Everyone's input here has good insight as to maximizing the benefits of ticket purchases regardless of the type.

By moving your second trip up a couple of weeks so that they both fall into the same 365-day period -- i.e., do them a little less than a year apart.

Nope. You'd have to go the second time before Jan 20th of the next year in order to double dip.
In your case, I'd probably do a 10 day expiring PH for $280. That's 28/day.
In comparison to a non expiring ten day, break even is just over 6 days. Which means that IF you go 7 out of the ten days, you come out ahead of the non expiring tickets.

AP would run you $35/day(member price). Break even over the 10 day non expiring is on day 8.

Adding water parks changes these numbers in favor of the 10 day tickets.

you go 1st year from 1/20-1/31 and the next year from 1/10-1/20. Meaning that you time your 2nd trip to be the week before you went the prior year. Many families do this in the summer--go early July then again late June. It also works nicely when Easter/Spring break is going to be early the following year.
