I will be purchasing DVC Annual Passes. Are they considered “Gold” passes? Would anyone know what the current new member price is? Usual time they may increase in pricing?

I know there are some blackout dates. Would second week of December be one of those times?

Thanks for any advice and info.

The current Gold Pass price is $609 for the first year. The renewal is currently $517.

December 20 – 31 are the only December blackout dates this year. I don't recall the second week of December ever being a blackout date.

Prices of these went up about $25 over last year's prices.

Historically, when do AP prices increase?

There are 3 types of DVC AP's - Gold (4 parks with blackout dates), Platinum (4 parks) and Platinum Plus (4 parks plus water parks).

There are also the 2 weeks around Easter.
  1. The following blockout dates apply to the Disney Gold Pass: March 24 ‒ April 6, 2018; December 20 – 31, 2018; January 1 – 3, 2019; and April 13 – 26, 2019.

Is the silver pass not an option for DVC members?

Nor would I expect it to ever be. Imagine if it was made available-- members would all be buying Silver passes and no one would be visiting for the 2 months of blackout in the summer. Imagine how much more crazy F&W would be.

I guess only Floridians understand that you don't want to go to WDW during the summer months. Heat and humidity do not make a nice vacation.

I bought Gold APs last week. The total is $648.59 each.

Some cultural differences exist here. Coming
from the UK where it's often dreary, cold and raining, I quite like it when it is hot and humid.
Speak to a Brit and ask them 'Did you have a nice vacation?' assuming it was 100% humidy and 95 degrees. Answer from many would be along the lines of 'It was fantastic, absolutely boiling hot weather'.
Speak to almost anyone else and it would be ''It was way too hot'.
Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun as the old saying goes. We don't feel we have had our value unless it's hot in many cases.

Louisianians too lol :) Although, we had a perfectly lovely 4th of July trip that included resort time, pool time, water parks, and exactly 3 FPs/fireworks at night! We are enjoying the Plat Plus Promo this year... gearing up for our first ever New Year's trip soon, too.

And I forgot about the summer rainy season. Rain every day.

I was there late June/early July and then mid-September this year. It was hot but we survived. The June/July trip was for a friend's milestone birthday, so the date was set and September was last minute because we wanted to see Sugar Ray at Food & Wine. Both turned out great, first time we were there for 4th of July and we were there opening morning for Toy Story Land. September was actually more uncomfortable because we did not have the daily rain (except a storm when the concert started).

Your post may make me reconsider a June/early July visit. As frequent travelers in aSeptember, we know hot! But we love it. Not the rain so much :)

Rain this year was atypical, as was much of the East Coast. Florida typically has its 4-5 p.m. shower of 30 minutes and then done in June and July. August is the wild card for weather IMHO.

We went round and round on renewing our AP's this year. I was astonished to see the costs of the tickets are so high that 8 park days made the AP affordable. Usually we have around 18 park days a year but this year it will be around 8 days plus our Fall trip which will put us around 13 days.
