We renewed our annual passes. This year we got the gold renewal which I was told included photopass downloads. Last year I purchased the memory maker which included the ride videos, magic shots, dinner photos, etc. Are they the same thing? We have reservations at Chef Mickey's and Be Our Guest and would love if those are included. Thanks!

Basically the same thing. With the AP PhotoPass download entitlement, the expiration date of the pictures is extended to 1 year (from 45 days).

Sorry if I see lost ... so maybe even better than basically the same thing??? All PhotoPass pictures for one year? Same as all included in the Memory Maker?

Trying to understand if I need to purchase anything in addition to the annual pass. We generally do buy the Memory maker but seems like I won't have to... correct?

No, with APs you don't need to buy MM. In fact, it's better than MM because any one photo will remain in your PP account for a year after it's taken.

And when my daughters ran in the Star Wars 5k. 10k and 1/2 marathon, since they changed to Photopass photographers, we got those as well!

We just got back Sunday night and our passes are from before they changed to the tiered pass system (so they were just the old basic AP's). This is the first time that they started adding all the photopass & ride pics to our My Disney Experience account where we could view them. We never purchased any of this add-on stuff before - and they didn't do this on our January trip - so are they trying to trick us into buying them now for an extra cost?

Not sure what your actual question is.

As for automatic linking of attraction photos/videos, that's been happening since Oct 2014 as long as you are wearing a MagicBand that has a good battery so that the long range transmitter is functioning. Prior to them being viewable in the MDE mobile app, they were available on the Disney PhotoPass website.

If you have a Gold/Platinum/Platinum Plus Pass, you don't pay extra to download any photos/videos that are linked to your PhotoPass account.

Just saying that they didn't do this on our January trip (or on our Nov. trip) - the one we just got back from was the first time they did it but we don't have the "gold" pass we just have the OLD regular AP which doesn't include photopass or anything so I was trying to figure out if they were trying to trick us into paying for pictures by putting them on our MDE account this time. I guess they are.

The ride pictures have been automatically added to your magic band (mde account) for a while now - at least a year. You do not have to purchase them. They are there in case you want to purchase them. They will expire a couple of months after the pictures were taken.

If you have an annual pass, they are able to be downloaded for free and will show an expiration date of a year from the date they were taken.

Not sure if your old annual pass qualifies for the free downloads. Try one and see.

When I activated my new AP (that includes the photo downloads), all my photos from the past year (that had previously "expired" after 45 days) showed back up in my PhotoPass account and were available for me to download for free.
