DVC Annual Pass Discount going away?

You can reassign it in the future. My MDE has my AP voucher and a link to reassign it.

I was considering purchasing a few AP's to keep for myself and DH for future use before the discount (possibly) goes away. I don't see a way to assign more than one to each individual. I wonder if I could do that through MS. Has anyone tried this?

Where did the speculation that the AP discount was going away start, anyway?
The DVC Owners on this board never cease to crack me up. I would say that most here suffer from major anxiety issues. :) I remember when there was a phase of everyone stressing out that DVC may change the rules to say all owners must stay at their Home Resort and nowhere else. Then it was that the 7 month booking window for non-home resorts would change to 3 months instead. Now, everyone is worried that the Annual Pass Discount will go away. Relax people! :rolleyes1 Here are the facts: The majority of DVC Owners have enough points to visit for a week either once a year or once every two years. By offering a discounted Annual Pass, Disney encourages people to visit more often than their points allow. In turn, Disney gets even more of your money through additional room rentals or by purchasing more DVC points. Either way, Disney wins! My opinion- The Annual pass Discount is not going away anytime soon. Enjoy. :yay:

I've never purchased at AP online. Can someone explain how it works? I'm planning a trip in 12 months, but I wouldn't mind getting two vouchers now for the trip then, assuming they wouldn't be activated until I used them the first time.

We own about 10 years worth of 10 day non-expiration tickets and several AP certificates. You can add them to your MDE account or wait until you intend to use them.

Just curious how you decided to purchase them like that, and then how do you decide when to use which. We did the 10 day non-expiring a few times. I've always preferred the AP's because it's not like using "a day" as with the others.

Most of our WDW vacations are more resort time, less park time now so the tickets work best. We schedule every three years or so, 2 vacations in a year heavier park AP use vacations. That gives us our park fix since the parks really don't change much. We enjoy planning for park vacations during the slower, less crowded times.

Interesting. As our family is changing, our kids are now grown with kid of their own, my DW and I are looking at trips without the kids. Even the use of points has become something to consider...like two week long trips using a studio vs. one with a 1 br.

Not sure that would be an absolute.

Isn't difficult for members to stretch a 150 - 160 pt contract to two, four or five day stays in a studio or even a family trip with an adults' only weekend. Additionally, many people do spit stays in the area (especially onsite at Universal properties for the FOTL perc) or stay pre cruising, etc.

jmho but purchasing WDW tix in advance is a good return on the $ considering how much the tix prices increase each year and is convenient as to booking FP+ with a set already linked to MDE account. Not sure If I will buy another 2 vouchers before year end or not. I do plan on linking an AP voucher & MYW tix to DH & my MDE account as a placeholder set. After purchasing the special tix for last Oct trip, discovered it's do-able (not necessarily convenient) to have guest services adjust which tix are to be utilized from various ones linked to your MDE account.

Not really, if you plan to go every other year. My husband and I have been doing this since we purchased 160 BLT points in 2012. Our original plan was to only go once every other year. The contract came with 60 banked points that needed to be used. We booked an adults' only 4 night trip in a BWV studio for Jan. 2013 with the banked points. Then we banked our 2012 points and used 2 years worth of points to book an 8 night stay in a BLT 2 bedroom in Dec 2013 with the kids and the in-laws. We bought annual passes for just the 2 of us and went twice in the same year.

We loved it so much, we've got the same plan for 2015. We have a 4 night adults' only trip to OKW and a 6 night BLT 2 bedroom stay for Nov with the kids and my parents. They didn't want to stay as long as my in-laws did. We bought annual passes for the adults and we'll pick up just plain 6 day passes for the kids.

I can see us continuing this for a long time. It's really great to get out of NY in Jan when it's ZERO degrees :woohoo: It's a little crazy though how I have 2 trips planned for next year and I'm already thinking 2 years ahead to the next ones

We also like to take the kids to places other than Disney. This past summer we took 2 1/2 weeks off after school and drove to TN to visit family. In 2016 we've got a big vacation in the works to the ocean with my sister and her family.

And then there's Brits like us who have enough for 2 and a half weeks in a studio but, by going two times every three years, we manage 2 holidays of 3 and a bit weeks on one annual pass.

Debating getting an annual pass. To get the current price do I have to do it by December 31?

A price increase has not been announced. Prices last increased February 23rd so another price increase is probably not far off.
