DVC Annual Gold Pass "photo pass downloads". Not sure what that is.

We are DVC Annual Gold Pass holders with a big family trip in a couple of weeks. With 21 "family and friends" on mydisneyexperience, the Memory Maker purchase seemed like a great idea. I've been reviewing the Annual Gold Pass entitlements and it mentions "photo pass downloads". What does that mean exactly? Is it comparable to Memory Maker? Does it apply to all guests associated with mydisneyexperience account? I bought the Memory Maker but did I have to? Any information is much appreciated!

It's a bit better than memory maker in my mind. You have download rights to all of the images of you and your party for up to one year after your trip as an AP owner. As long as all of your friends are linked to your account on MDE, you can download all of their images.
I did it for my family and it worked great. Everyone appreciated the free images.

And FYI, you could upgrade that DVC Gold pass to a Platinum Plus (with no blackout dates and includes water parks) for $0 or $10
(depending on what you paid for the gold pass)

Well that sounds fabulous BUT as after I posted here, I went to mydisneyexperience and "chatted" with some guy and he said it WOULD NOT extend to my family and friends....only me and dh (the AP holders). I even copied to the chat the page that said it WOULD extend to eligible family but dude said "no".

You will be able to see and download any photos that are linked to your MDE by the CM scanning your magic band after the photo. ALSO, you will be able to see and download any photos taken of, and linked to the MDE account of anyone on your friends and family list. For instance, my wife and I are AP holders. We see our photos (no watermark and fully download-able). We also see the photos linked to either of our sons or our DIL's MDE accounts as they are on our F & F list (no watermark and fully download-able). So while your AP photopass privileges do not "extend" to your family, they still effectively have photopass via your account as long as you are linked in MDE -in other words you may download and share any/all of the photos that appear on you account. Make sense?

Yes Spartan, and if I do understand then buying Memory Maker for the group is not necessary. Am I right?

What??? Oh my goodness! I'll be looking into that tonight...mostly to see if there are better WDW golf course offers!

Not true. I have a linked friend who is a castmember, so she gets in free. I get her pictures from trips I'm not even on. I download her pictures and send them to her since they are watermarked on her account.

Yes, this.

Yes, this.

I have also done this as an AP holder. Just upload all the photos to Google drive and share the folder with the people who tool the trip. It can take over an hour to download all of the pictures, though, if the person taking the trip stops at every single photographer he sees...

Made me crack up. We are linked to some who seem to. Lol.

DH and I always do! We have so many photos of us in front of the castle that when they pop up on the screensaver I have no idea when they were taken! :rotfl2:

Yes. If you are an AP holder, then no need. Just get everyone linked up as family & friends in your MDE account and you will have access to all the PhotoPass photos for download.

Oh, boy-am I ever glad to see this question. We also have the DVC Annual Gold Pass (2), and had no idea what we got and how it related to the Memory Maker. All I know is that we're taking our DGDs next week and we want LOTS of pictures!
