Hi,

I have just become a DVC member. During my previous trips to WDW I have loved the convenience of being able to use my room key to charge food, souvenirs etc in the parks. Can I still do this as a DVC member? Looking forward to my next visit in May :)

Cheers! :goodvibes :goodvibes

You most certainly can use your room key as a charge back to the room card. It is one of the perks to staying on WDW property. Have fun in May & Welcome Home!

You sure can!

It's the same system, you just give them a credit card when you check in and then you can assign who in your group will have a card that will charge and who will simply have a card that opens your villa door.

Our last cards not only had each of our names on them but also said "member" so we were able to take advantage of some perks of membership without having to show our blue member cards also.

This charging system also allows for express check out same as with your regular hotel rooms.

Have a great visit in May!

While on the subject of charging priveleges, I have a question too. We will have 2 couples going to a 2 bdr villa at BWV. Can one couple put charging on their key card with their charge card and the other couple use their own charge card for their charging purposes on their key cards?

No, it is one credit card on file per unit. However, if the other people wish to use the room charge, and you are comfortable with it, you can get a print out from the front desk the night before you depart and break down their purchases, then they can go to the front desk and pay that portion with their credit card. You may need to take your credit card, also. The front desk may need to swipe it again to charge out the remained of the balance the next morning.

I agree, it is always a good idea to carry an extra credit card, just in case the resort computers go down...it could disable charging on the kttw cards temporarily.

Thanks All

Yes I to also carry the CC DL and a little cash .I guess I will have to find a way to put into my Cell what discounts go with what card as well.

Boy this saving money thing is tough.

Exactly what happened to me once (with no credit card on hand or sufficient cash) - only once will it happen

Also, there is at least one "store" - the one that sells the little donuts at Blizzard Beach that takes cash or major credit card (not room key charge)...

Thanks for the advice. I'll double check at the desk that we can do this.

So, if we have two studios, one for us and one for our friends, they should be able to get charging privileges on their KttW card and charge it to their own cc since we are in separate units. Is this correct?

Yes, seperate ressies can have different charge cards.

as info.....the small coffee & smoothie stand near the UK & Canada pavilions @ Epcot doesn't take room keys either.....had to use a Discover.....

What if you are renting from a DVC member and are a guest, can you still charge to your room key?

Another charging question.. Does WDW put a "hold" on your credit card? I know the charging amount at the Villa's is 1500 do they put a hold on your card for that amount. Thanks :)
