So being new to the Vacation Club...do we qualify for the Buy 4 nights Package and get 3 Free deal now being offered?
And how would that apply to our points?
For example if I booked a 1 bedroom at the VWL 4 nights June would cost 112 pionts. Would I then be booked for 7 night at no additional points?

Sorry, but those promotions that are put out are seperate from DVC. Just like when free dining is offered, members using points don't qualify for the promotion. You could always book a room through CR for cash to get the promotion and then rent out points to help cover your cost.

sorry if i came across as abrupt. i was just trying to point you in the right direction.

No problem...:)
I'm still waiting to get my info book to explain alot of these things.
So my questions might seem silly.

No, kmk1180, your questions aren't silly. We've all been through the "newbie phase". This is a great place to get answers, and you'll be an old hand before you know it.

And Welcome Home!

You just have to keep in mind that WDW and DVC are separate entities. What WDW chooses to do with its hotel rooms does not apply to DVC and vice versa. Packages ("Free" Dining, the new 4/3 package, etc.) are put out to increase the bottom line of the WDW division of the Disney company. When bookings are down the need to fill those hotel rooms to generate income. DVC does not have that problem, as the points sold are enough to fill every room for each night of the year (less the 4% that DVC retains). Therefore there should never be the need to entice us to vacation, as we will be the ones losing out if we don't use our points.

Also keep in mind that the 4/3 package is not really that great of a savings. It gives you a 40% discount on your hotel room (about the same as the AP discount) and a $10 per person savings on your passes (additional days on MYW passes, after 4, are only a few dollars each). So while it looks good on paper, we're still way ahead of that with our memberships.

Oh, and BTW...WELCOME HOME!

Anyone can use the buy 4 get three free package deal. You just have to pay for it. We did it the last time they offered it and stayed at the GF. DVC members don't get any of the freebies, free dining, free tickets, etc that package purchasers get.

The nightly rate for the 1BR at WLV in June would be $500, so the current buy 4 get 7 promotion would cost you about $2250 (with tax) plus tickets.

A 7 night stay on points in Dream Season would cost 252 points. Put another way, for each point you use, you are saving $8.93 in cash you do not have to spend. Depending on how you value your points (many value them at around $10/point), if you can bank you points for a trip next year, the cash promotion may be a decent deal.

By the way, the deal is not as attractive if you wanted to book a studio or 2 BR. The cash rate for a studio with tax but no tickets would be about $1665, while the points for the stay would be 123 ($13.54/point). The cash rate for a 2BR with tax but no tickets would be about $3,667.50, while the points for the stay woudl be 314 ($11.68/point).

Best of luck -- Suzanne

I called yesterday and booked at POR the first week of February. I still have reservations for a studio at the Beach Club but because I was looking for points to use in October, I took a good look at this offer. The studio has a point value of 123 points. The room at POR has is priced at $832.52 and comes with $200 gift card, (2) one day passes, (1) Arcade Play card voucher, miniature golf voucher, Planet Holliday Merchandise voucher, Sea raycer voucher and a $15 Planet Hollywood meal voucher. Our plans are to upgrade the 1 day passes ($80 ea) and the gift certificate ($200) to an AP. Our pass is up for renewal today, but we had no plans to renew until the February trip. Oh, by the way we still will be moving over to the BCV studio for the last three weeks of February. :yay:
Is this a good plan or not?

I think that's the way to make the 4/3 package work best, DVC Grandpa. And I'm:worship: about 3 more weeks at the BCV.

I think so. DH and I have been talking about doing the same thing
I have been playing with the numbers for 2 days and will decide tomorrow. I would like to be able to take an additional trip next year ;)

DH just surprised me for my birthday with a confirmed ressie for the Wilderness Cabins :yay: Thats where we stayed on our first trip to the world and loved it. I'll be calling MS to cancel our other ressies for January. Now I get an extra trip to the world sometime next year :woohoo:

We also took advantage of this offer. We booked the Poly, cancelled our ressies at VWL, banked the points, and we will use the tickets to upgrade our annual passes next year.
