DVC and II Getaways

I am considering a DVC purchase and have a few questions about the relation between DVC and II. Do you pay the yearly II dues if you are a member of DVC? Also, are you eligible for II getaway weeks if you are a DVC member. Thanks for the info!

You do not pay II dues. I believe that DVC is the actual member of II not the individual members. As far as I know we are not eligible for their getaway weekends.

Forget most of what you know about II when dealing with DVC. DVC is the member and as such you have no fees except the $75 exchange fee. You do mostly request first up to 2 years out. That's the good news. The bad is that DVC tells you which resorts you can exchange to (only about 10 % of II), no getaway rentals, bacially can't trade up in unit size, can't call II directly and no bonus weeks. If exchanging is at all important to you, I'd suggest you consider other options to complement DVC. Of course you can always to direct exchanges or use one of the independent exchange companies.
