We are going home on Sept 26th and are bringing some friends with us. This will be our first trip home with our oldest son who is four. Our friends also have a daugher that is four and we were all set to use fairy godmothersothers. However our friend is a little apprehensive about the whole idea (unrecommended babysitter). She wanted to hear from any DVC'ers who have experience with fairy godmothers, and any specific sitters they recommend.

Please help us with this!

I prefer the services offered at the resorts such as The Neverland Club at the Polynesian and the Cub's Den at Wilderness Lodge. You often need an advance reservation.

We used Fairy Godmothers and their service was fine. The kids were already in bed. My husband's nervous system will not allow him to use private sitters again. He just didn't like leaving the kids alone in the room with a stranger.

If all of the kids are potty trained and 4 and above, the kid's clubs are a great idea. My oldest 2 stayed at the neverland and enjoyed it. They are asking to go to Simba's clubhouse on our August trip. It's a hard decision to make to use the private sitters, maybe you can take turns sitting for eachother, that would at least give each couple some free time together.

I would definately do the kids club over an in-room sitter. How about Sandcastle at BC or Neverland at Poly. Both of these get high marks on these boards.
Actually so does FairyGodmothers, but I too will not use them. My dd will be using the Sandcastle one evening on our trip on 8/26-9/2. She actually thinks this is another "event" we have signed her up for and does not even think of it as a babysitting service (she is 7). She can't wait to go. :)

If they are old enough the kid's clubs are fine.
But..... for a toddler the in-room is the only way.

We did this in May with our 2yr old dd. She needs her sleep and was really grumpy towards the end of the stay. We already had tickets for e-night. It was a last minute thing for us. They put me on a call back notice. But believe me I researched it (here of course!!) and felt okay, (yeah a little guilty!) It was the best money spent! My 4 yr old dd enjoyed the parade, which my 2 yr old would never have been able to wait for.

It's like this. Mickey is the boss and believe me he is going to make sure that this service is reliable and hires people that have been researched. Why would disney reccomend a company they are not confident in? Our fees were put on our hotel bill minus the tip we gave her. Yeah I had dh check and make sure the cell phone was working several times LOL!
Our sitter was great!

Would do it again and just may in Dec.

We used Kinder Kare. Don't know about Fairy Godmothers though.

I'm a DVC'er at OKW. I used Fairy Godmothers with my (then) 4 month old while my DH and I went to V&A's. The sitter was a woman in her 60's and was very nice. We were a little nervous (who wouldn't be?), but everything was fine. All of the sitters are bonded and are almost all are older (grandmothers).

Your 4 years olds may or may not enjoy the kids clubs. Also, it may double your cost to put 2 kids in the clubs v/s having a sitter come into your room. Honestly, your kids will get more individual attention from the private sitter (FG or Kindercare) than at any of the kids clubs. Plus, if the kids are not 100% potty trained the clubs won't take them.

A similar thread regarding Kindercare and In-room sitters is located in Theme Park Strategies if anyone wants to read the posts.

Happy surfing.......

We used Fairy Godmothers on July 15th. Vivian is the woman who came to our hotel and she was wonderful, I highly recommend her! My 2 1/2 year old was even calling her grandma! I know she enjoyed watching my kids as much as they enjoyed her. She was telling me about how she was combing my dd's beautiful hair and she got teary-eyed (my dd is a doll, what can I say?!):)
