DVC and CRO reservation at the same time?

I know I have read this before, but is it possible to have a DVC and CRO reservation at the same time?

I currently have 3 nights at WDW for spring break, followed by 3 nights at Vero Beach. I am thinking about booking the 7-4 deal, however even if we do we may decide to keep one night at Vero. We would just drive over without checking out and then drive back the next day.

I currently have a lot of points borrowed, so I can't just cancel the DVC reservation and bank all of my points.

Long story short, can I have both a DVC reservation and a CRO reservation at the same time? One of my reservations is for a hard-to-get unit, so given the fact that I can't bank the points I've already borrowed I was thinking it might be best to keep those three nights and rent the unit out when the time comes.

Thank you for your help.

I don't mean to sound like a smart-alec here but you can have as many reservations as you have points for and as many cash reservations as you're willing/able to pay for.

Did I miss something obvious? :confused3

Hard to believe, but you can't have multiple reservations on points in your own name for the same dates. I guess it would stop large point holders from reserving prime times and renting out several reservations.

I also remember reading someone say that they were trying to either book a points ressie or a CRO and MS said that they already had one and couldn't book another.

I'd say just call CRO and give it a try. With all the computer changes going on they may not be able to see the DVC reservations like they seemed able to a few months ago.

As noted, DVC won't let you have multiple reservations in the same name for the same dates USUALLY. But that's not really any deterrent as there are easy ways to work around this issue by placing reservations in different names such as you and a spouse.

How would booking multiple units work?:confused3 If I am traveling with a party of 15 and I want to book 2 2BR for the same time, is it just under one, big reservation or are they separate? Now, I am confused. Our family is planning a big trip in 2012 and we might not all do the DDP. I was planning on putting those who want the plan on one reservation and those who don't on a different reservation. Will I not be able to do this? Or, is it that you cannot have more than one ressie with the same traveling party?:confused3

A lot of folks did this for free dining a few years ago. Booked a value resort for "free dining" and then stayed at thier DVC accomodation.

Just put each unit in the name of a person you think is likely to go. You can later change the names if you need to to coincide with the actual group participants. Each unit is a separate reservation with it's own res #. For 15 I'd likely look at more than just two 2 BR units. One 2 BR plus studios, three 2 BR units, two 2 BR plus a studio. Ultimately it would depend on what resort and the exact mix of the group. With done this many times with DVC and elsewhere and never had a problem. We had nine 2 BR units in Gatlinburg this past summer. You can adjust later and add the DDP as appropriate to each unit you desire.

Let me say that I am not advocating listing people on paper to be able to work around the DDP rules. I know it's done but it is not my recommendation. However, you can get it for one unit and not others for the actual guests in that unit as a legitimate use of the DDP. This can be a smart use of the plan as it is really a true value only for a subset of those traveling to WDW.

 I just booked 2 2br at SSR for Jan. There are 10 of us. It was my first ressie since I became a member. Both rooms are in my name (used DPs from AKV, banked points from SSR resale, reg points from SSR resale & borrowed points from SSR resale). I had no idea and was not told that I couldn't book multi rooms :confused3 .

Our group is actually well-suited for the 2 2BR setup. My immediate family (me, DH , DD3 and DD5 now) will share one unit with my sister and BiL and their child(they have a 6 month old now...maybe another before 2012?). Our families are very close so we will have no problem sharing. Then, my brother and SiL and their 3 kids (ages 4,5 and 7 now) will share the other 2BR with my parents. My mom and SiL get along great! We're planning on OKW so I don't think we'll be too crowded. I think we will probably look at lock-offs to secure a little more privacy as well. With all those kids (6, maybe 7, under the age of 10!), we'll definitely want a washer and dryer!

My BiL and SiL have never been to WDW and neither have their children. This trip will be the first for them so I foresee them spending a lot of time in the parks. I think that the resort is going to be "just a place to sleep". My kids love the sleeper sofas and at least at OKW, we won't have to worry about any adults having to use them.

My dad is planning on footing the bill for the entire group(:faint: ) and so that is the only reason we are considering a dining plan. He'll know right away how much the food budget will be.:scared1: If not everyone wants it, we have the option of splitting families up accordingly.

Ya know. Due respect to all concerned but something just don't smell right to me. :)

I've been around a long time and I haven't ever heard of anything in this country that was for sale that good ole dead American presidents couldn't buy; and buy all of them you wanted to buy if you've got enough of those dead presidents to spare.

Could somebody point me to a link for this policy that deprives someone from making over one reservation at a time on points and cash?

Thanks.

I don't think it's in writing, you may want to call DVC and discuss it. They used to allow it. It seems to be an approach aimed at discouraging reserving now and renting later. And as all things Disney, YMMV. You simply can't be in two rooms at one time. But it's no problem getting multiple reservations, you just need to be able to have multiple names such as one for you and one for your wife. Not really much of a deterrent as you can see.

That seems fine but it's 13, not the 15 you mentioned in your previous post. Who else? or were you just counting on another child for a couple of the families, LOL.

Thanks Dean. Yea. They'd be pretty stupid (IMO) to put such a poicy in writing anywhere. That's what I was thinking.

There are loopholes in the unwritten policy as you said. Anybody with enough cash to get around the challenge would figure out how to do it.

Thanks!

I don't know that they'd be stupid to do so, they could easily enforce such a provision if they so choose. It might require a minor change to the rules and regs which they can do without member input in most cases. Likely better (from their standpoint) would be to institute small fees for cancellation, change, banking, borrowing and multiple reservations for the purpose this policy seems aimed at.

It should be 14 right now (families of 5,4,3 and 2) but, yes, my sister is hoping to have another baby before we go. They have a 5 month old so they aren't going to start trying for another year or so. Any new additions won't be old enough to count towards occupancy limits anyways. My brother would like to add another to his 3 kids, but SiL says "no", but that could change too. We're all still quite young and "accidents" may occur...but the good kind:) !
