DVC and AP discounts

Hi! I need help again....sorry!

What DVC discounts are likely for late April/early May at BCV? We are members, but will be bringing family along with us. When are the discounts likely to be available to book?

Also, you all often mention AP discounts too. What sort of discounts can be expected? When are they released?

SIL and I are still trying to sort out a holiday combi of AKL/BCV on cash and points!! Arghh!

I have just told SIL that I can count on my friends at Disboards to help............

I may be misunderstanding your question, but someone else will chime in if I'm off base.

DVC members can get a 25% discount on rooms, IF the discount is available (only a certain # of rooms, and I don't know that anyone has ever figured out what that is -- it could vary). The DVC member must be staying in the room to get the discount. DVC tells me they will guarantee that a reservation on points and one on cash BOOKED THROUGH MS will be linked and you will not have to change rooms. We just did this and it was seamless. Since W/E's use more points, that's the nights to try for the member's discount. I'm not sure if there's a particular time that these discounts are released, ie, 1 year in advance.

AP discounts are sometimes available for DVC properties --- this varies, also. I've gotten a 35-45% discount, but I've got a 10 year history of using AP discounts and can't tell you what they have averaged recently. If available, they are usually announced a few months in advance.

I have gotten DVC discounts as early as 9 months out. Just to repeat tho, this is fluid, with DVC releasing only a certain number at various times. I have not yet figured out the system or logic. Notably, the CM at MS was surpised to see a DVC discounted availability more than 9 months out, so I suspect that DVC discounts are usually released later (maybe after the 7 month mark?).

As for AP discounts, Mousesavers.com has a listing of when AP discounts have been released since 2000. We are also hoping to score an AP discount at AKL for next spring, as you can see form my counter, and we are splitting that trip with a BWV (home) stay.

I got a 30% off AP discount for an OKW 1 bedroom for Friday May 8. The discounts are usually better for studios, I think it was more like 40% off. OKW is usually easy to get, especially weekends but the other resorts can be more difficult. Late April/early May is the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot, BWV & BCV are likely to be more full than OKW.

I just called MS on Thursday and was able to secure a 1 bedroom at Old Key West for Friday Aug 27 & Sat Aug 28 with the DVC discount for $255/night.

I was trying for SSR but no discounts were available there. Could have had the 1 bedroom for $349

Opted for OKW to save the $188.
