First off, this is just a discussion based on nothing but chatter.

One thought out there is that they will be using additional FP+s as perks for attracting guests to on property resorts. May be tiered for delux vs value, maybe not.

If this was to come to be, I was wondering what they would do for DVC guests. One one hand, we are generally treated well when we are there, but on the other, we are shut out of a few of their booking incentives (ie free dining). And we are captive group bc we always stay on site and don't need to be attracted there away form other resorts.

Despite the push back by some people, I am in favor of on site guests getting perks with FP+, but I wonder how it would work with DVCers.

Thoughts.

Since DVC resorts are also open to cash guests, Disney has generally extended most, but not all, perks to DVC stay. I don't think additional fast passes cost them a whole lot, as compared to free dining, so I am guessing DVC stays would be like any other deluxe resort in that regard. Imagine trying to sell DVC and then giving a huge list of normal onsite perks that are not available. UNLESS they tie the additional fastpasses to a non-discounted room stay, that may be a kicker.

But DVC does have access to Magical Express and Extra Magic Hours...so I really see no reason to exclude DVC from fastpasses.

While we're not included in incentives to boost room sales, we are typically included in on-site stay benefits. For example, there is no distinction between DVC points reservations and cash reservations when it comes to extra magic hours, Disney's Magical Express, Disney transportation, and room charging. We also have the benefit of making dining reservations at 180+10 (although the IT implementation hasn't been handled very well.)

If extra Fastpasses as an on-site perk does come to fruition, I would think that DVC stays would have the same treatment as deluxe stays.

You know, the more I think about my reply, the more I'm prompted to say...

Don't be surprised if the intent is for DVC reservations to have this perk, but the implementation to be less than perfect. For example, I wouldn't be surprised if the My Disney Experience web site has the same problem recognizing DVC reservations for fast pass purposes that it does when making ADRs.

I would not say DVC members are shut out of free dining. Free dining requires a full price room. No room discounts can be applied. So AP Holders cannot use thier discount, Florida residents cannot use their discount, DVC members cannot use points. Members can get free dining if they meet the requirements - full price room and 2 day ticket. But you can't get a discounted room and free dining (except for some UK plans).

I would expect DVC members to be treated the same as deluxe resort guests if there is a tiered fastpass. Otherwise, they are going to have a hard time selling new points.

I'm staying on points in September and have made all of my fastpass+ reservations already :)

Can you only see the fastpass+ if you have a pass linked? Or where is it on MDE? Will we have to have a voucher or active pass to link and do fastpass+ when it rolls out? I was going to wait until we go in March and do it at Disney, but if we can not do fastpass+ ahead of time I would buy them early.

We are at AKL Jambo House in September our DVC points and have magic bands on the way and FP+'s already booked. All of Jambo is part of the test but I do not believe that Kidani is (at least that is the info I have read on another board.)

I think we will get more FP+ than other guests, merely to keep us on property.
There is a lot of buzz on other sites where DVC members are saying they are, and intend on using their villa as a home base for traveling to other Orlando theme parks, and sites.

I think many DVCers already use it as a home base. While I do spend the majority of time onsite, when I drive down and have a car I also go offsite to other area attractions. As often as many DVCers visit WDW, we do need a change now and then. Now, if I fly and use Magical Express, of course I stay onsite as I don't want the added expense of a rental.

We are from CA, so fly all the time, but never got a car. We are giving it some serious thought to doing everything else we haven't seen around Orlando, and FLA. that's in driving distance of our villa.
