We wanted to add dining for our 2 y.o. ds since he is a big eater and on our last trip we ended up buying him meals OOP which was well over the cost of $10.99 a day. I know with making a regular reservation we would just add a ticket for him, but since I am planning on buying tickets from Undercover Tourist(and upgrading to AP's when we arrive), do I just show proof of him being a ticketed guest at check-in, or am I required to add his ticket through Disney? *I know that paying OOP is cheaper than adding dining and buying a ticket, but he is turning 3 at the end of May and we have 2 more trips planned for the year, so he will need a ticket for his next trip anyway. TIA!

For our 1st DVC trip that was just completed, I simply told them that I wanted to add DDP when I made my reservations. We paid for it at the concierge desk right after we checked in. It was not in any way linked to the tickets, but to the room reservation.

Looks like you will need to pay OOP for the March trip and should be ok adding the DDP after that when he turns 3.

we were able to add our 2year old DD to the DDP.....we did not need a park tix for her....they just charged us the rate for a child DDP

Since 2 yo do not pay at buffets, make sure you are eating at menu places before you pull the trigger on the DDP if it is allowed.

We got the DDP for my then 2 year old with no problem. We just needed to add it to the room reservation. I don't think it had anything to do with the park tickets.

BTW, even though my DD is not a heavy eater, it was still worth it. She was almost 3 and chicken fingers and fries were her favorites, so we would have had to buy extras anyway.

There is lots of controversy about this on the Dining Plan board as Disney officially says no children under 3 can purchase DP, yet some people have had success with it.

We have decided no more DP for us as we just aren't satisfied with kids' meals - our kids eat chicken, steak, pasta, cheese, soup, fruit, etc. and don't eat the mostly greasy, mushy kids' fare at WDW. For this reason, we are back to TIW/DDE (did it 2x before and liked it very much). This way, we can order them an adult meal to share, or, appetizers. No restrictions for us, so we are very much looking forward to that as our baby eats a lot!

Happy eating, Tiger :)

We were able to add our DD to the DDP before she turned two. I told the CM that she was still 2, but was a big eater. They put her on our ressie as a 3 year old, but this has nothing to do w/ park tickets. We purchased park tickets for me and my DH through Undercover Tourist and had them add them to our KTTW card. We were never questioned about a ticket for our DD.
