DVC Add-On Offers Onboard Wonder

I just returned from the 12/14 Disney Wonder sailing.

At the Member Celebration, the onboard DVC add-on offers were as follows:

BLT:
1. No Closing Costs
2. All 2009 Use Years Available
3. No Annual Dues until Sept. 2009
4. $5 credit per point applied toward down payment
5. Complementary set of vacation points equal to add-on, which can be used toward cruises sailing thru Oct 2010
6. $500 shipboard credit for present cruise with add-on of 160 points or more

AKV:
1. No Closing Costs
2. All 2009 Use Years Available
3. No Annual Dues until May 2009
4. $8 credit per point applied toward down payment
5. Complementary set of vacation points equal to add-on, which can be used toward cruises sailing thru Oct 2010

I hope they continue offering incentives when we sail in May 09. Would love to add on at AKV but right now other obligations come first.

Typically, developer points can only be used at SSR I believe...

Yes - except for the closing costs. Disney pays closing costs on all member add-ons.

The matching points are the developer points that are offered to everyone. The only difference in purchasing on board DCL is the fact that they can be used towards Disney cruises, as well as towards SSR vacations.

No closing costs is applicable for all members adding on no matter where you are purchasing. And the $500, well that may be extra on board ship, or it may be replacing the money towards down payment that is offered to everyone else..

These are the same BLT incentives that were offered on the November 15th sailing of the Magic.

When purchasing on DCL, you receive all of the incentives that are currently being offered at WDW PLUS the $500 shipboard credit! The only other difference is that the Developer Points don't have to be used at SSR --- they can be used to book another cruise on DCL, or they may be used at DL or even thru II! If you choose to use your points to cruise, you also receive a reduced points booking offer for 2009 cruises. These special rates are valid only for 3 business days after your cruise.

*Incentives for new purchases vary slightly. You pay closing costs on your first 160 points, and you need to purchase 220+ points in order to receive the $500 shipboard credit.

It is hard when you don't know if you got "The Best Deal"

I have found over the many years, that the best deal is the one you make as soon as you are ready. Incentives may vary, such as interest rates and developer points, but for sure the price per point always continues to rise. I know my points that I paid $54 per point for sure are the best deal I could have ever made...

Hi. Just wondering if DVC points can be used for booking a DCL cruise?

You can use your DVC Member points to book on DCL, however, it will cost more to rent points than to pay cash directly. Also, the reservation has to be made by the primary owner, hence you cannot rent points to cruise.

Please remember to post on the Rent/Trade board when seeking out point rentals for WDW resorts.

Good question... I'd buy a few more AKV but I don't need a LOT more points there..
