DVC ? about OKW and BC Villas-Help!

Looking into doing a 5 night stay M-F in DVC studio villa. What can you tell me about OKW and BC studios? Would we have access to a washer/dryer? Last summer we stayed at the Poly and the studios are just about the same size, maybe slightly larger. We are a family of 5. Can we expect the same Disney magic, or will we feel out of the loop by staying in the studio villas? What has your experience been at either of these two resorts? Is OKW too far away from everything, is it outdated?

The OKW studio is quite a bit larger than the BCV studio I believe. The OKW studio has two queen beds; the BCV has a queen and sleeper sofa...which I think may be a double.

Would we have access to a washer/dryer?

Yes. At OKW the laundry rooms are near the pools; not sure about where they are at BCV. The washers & dryers look like coin machines, but don't put money in, just push the plunger. They're free.

We are a family of 5.

Unless one of the five is younger than 3, you're not going to be able to stay in either a studio or one-bedroom. The stated occupancy limits are 4 + one toddler in the provided Pac 'n Play. You can bring an inflatable mattress, but DVC will not provide extra linen or towels.

Can we expect the same Disney magic, or will we feel out of the loop by staying in the studio villas?

Yes, of course. You'll be very much in the loop -- if anything, moreso.

Is OKW too far away from everything, is it outdated?

No and no. I actually consider OKW to be ideally located, unless you are planning an Epcot/MGM only trip -- like for Food & Wine. We usually drive to the theme parks because it's easier for us with a stroller, but others report excellent bus service from OKW. You will hear complaints about the bus service from BCV and BWV because of the shared buses.

So BC & BW villas share buses and OKW has it's own bus, is this correct?

in the morning all the epcot buses have their own.

once the morning rush is gone - you will share a bus sometimes just with YC, other times with YC and BW, and at other times you share one with all the epcot resort - d/s, yc, bc and bw.

just depends.

the way I get around this - is - when I am staying in a Epcot resort I only visit Epcot and Studios.

then on my next visit I try to stay at VWL - only do MK. (although the Epcot bus is pretty good)

at OKW I go to everything. I just use the bus for MK and AK. drive to everything else.

Although I've never used the washer and dryers available at OKW, I have at BCV, several times. Before I went, I was afraid of waiting, when are they available, etc. In the 4 times I've gone (twice at the busy DVC early December), I never had to wait even though there are only 2 washers and, I think, 2 dryers. What I did have to do is turn on the light to the laundry room a few times because no one else had been in recently. Just wanted to mention that, if you're worried about them being available, don't be!
