DVC 7 month reservation question

I am not new to WDW, but I am a new DVC member with OKW being home.

My question: Is it risky to wait for a seven month booking at another resort. I am looking at July 08, for a two bedroom and one studio.
Kind of hesitant to take the chance. I would try for Saratoga. Do not want to chance a none elevator bldg at OKW because of seniors in the family.

If I'm reading your question correctly

1) Based on past history, SSR is the last WDW DVC resort to fill up. You are almost certain to get a room at the 7 month window for July.

2) That said, if you are worried, go ahead and make a reservation at OWK now, then switch to SSR at the 7 month window.

The other option, if you want to be at OKW, is to request first floor for medical necessity. We did that when we stayed at OKW with Grandma who has mobility problems and it worked fine.

Since you might be thinking of the July 4th holiday, I would likely make a reservation at your home resort now and request first floor or elevator building for medical reasons. It might mean you COULD get a HA building, and that might not be exactly what you are looking for though. Just because SSR has elevators, does not mean it is easier access. When we stayed there, I was having some mobility issues, and I found there to be more energy spent with hallway egress etc, than we had at our OKW GV the next week. We did not have a HA GV, but the low rise stairs didn't seem to be an issue at all while the extra steps to get to and from the elevators was a bit of an issue.

FYI, the elevator buildings at OKW are 62, 63, and 64.
