DVC 6th year Christmas Tree, Sharing a Little DVC Holiday Magic

I have not used a prepaid postage, interesting. i use fedex for shipping, how would that work if i ship the tree back from the resort instead of fedex.
because i know the resort charges more then fedex.

I will check on this Monday. DH said this shouldn't be a problem..especially with UPS. You can request a pick up at the resort. How much has shipping run in the past?

City has typo... should be "Lake Buena Vista".

I thought about leaving a prepaid label for shipping....to make it a little easier. Has anyone done this?

I usually ship a box everytime we go and I pre-print the return label for it thru UPS. Then when we check out, I just seal the box, stick on the label and drop it off at the front desk. It takes 6 business days from door to door using ground. I usually ship a 17lb box and it runs around $12.00. I shipped three boxes in April that were a total of 39lbs for $23.

Thanks. This is what I will do. It will be easier for whoever has to ship it back.

The same thing can be done through Fed Ex. We have account with both Fed Ex and UPS, but this last year I have found Fed Ex Ground to be the most cost effective. I hadn't thought of doing this for the tree I'm shipping, so thanks for the idea. It will so much easier for the family that has to ship the tree back to have a pre-printed label that they can stick on the box and just drop it off at the front desk. :)

Thank you dinsynutz for correcting my post on the city typo! i changed the city, i guess fast typing and copy & paste can get me into trouble :lmao:

Thank you to all for all the great suggestions, Please just remember if your tree box has a pre paid shipping label, we ask you to still donate a few dollars to help out the tree owner with all the shipping costs.:wizard:

Our group doesn't have a tree yet. Where is the cheapest place to find one? :confused3

I would try WalMart. This is the story of our BWV tree:

We did not send the tree in '04, but we were on the exchange. It was a lovely fiber optic tree, that went so nicely on top of the TV cabinet in our 2 bedroom at BWV and our whole family (16 people) enjoyed gathering in our room, and everyone commented that the tree added lots to the atmosphere. When I went home, after Christmas, our Kroger's, the food store, had the very same tree. At that time it was 1/2 price, $10. It's already decorated, I do include extra lights so people can decorate the base of the tree, or the glass door.

In the past we have had other trees as well. Not all have expensive decorations, so it isn't something that has to cost a lot. You do get help with the postage. Many people add something to the tree, or to the others in the exchange.

I find the hardest thing is to find a sturdy box! Maybe others are luckier, but the tree that goes to VWL every other year, has already had 2 different boxes.

I finally pulled my trees down from the attic :goodvibes i opened the boxes and they do need a good sprucing up. But the sad part:sad1: my AKL tree skirt was not in the AKL tree box:sad2: I was given this beautiful tree skirt to send with my tree for dvc families to share with the tree and the tree skirt was not put back in side the tree box.:sad1: If anyone on my tree list last year found the tree skirt among your things, please pm me and i will give you my address to send it back. I feel really bad because of all the hard work that went into this lovely tree skirt.

Thanks. This is what I will do. It will be easier for whoever has to ship it back.

Hi Elle,

Thank you for doing this as I am the last person on the list and I didnt know how I would be able to do this as I will not have a car. Let me know how much it comes out to so that I can ensure enough is in the envelope to reimburse you!:goodvibes

Hello

I don’t want to screw things up here for those who have done all this work with the trees. So If I am by proving this info please don’t be afraid to tell me point blank.

It just happens to be that I am surprising DH with a decorated room for Christmas which includes a Christmas tree. We are staying from Nov 24- Dec 7 ending at BWV. If I can pass this tree onto someone else at BWV to enjoy I am certainly willing to do so. This surprise came up just two days ago. The tree, however, will not have ornaments on but will have lights and ribbons. So if I am able to help out with this additional tree I am certainly willing to do so. But if like I said I am really screwing everyone up with this please don’t hesitate to tell me.

bump:goodvibes dont forget to post when you ship the trees down :woohoo:

and dont forget if you are the last family please use the donations & return address label inside the tree box to ship the trees back to the owners.
unless there is a pre paid label for shipping then just leave the money inside the tree box.

Hi. I am one of the people on the waitlist for a tree at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. We will be there Dec 21-Dec26. I was just wondering if there have been any changes or am I still on waitlist. Thank You.

BWV tree #1 and OKW tree #1 I sent you all PM's today.

I plan on shipping the trees out tomorrow. :woohoo:

Good idea, I should have done pm's and will do so now.

If another family isn't added...I'll wait a while to ship. I'm the first one on the list!

I will look at the list again tonight and see if i can squeeze a few more families on to the lists......:goodvibes
