I was lucky enough to get one, but only because I saved the links from the last time they were released (I checked the site every night for months hoping to get one). They never showed up for me as searchable.
Here's what it said on the DVC announcement about the bags coming back:
I'm glad I got mine, but I'm very disappointed in Disney. Not only was it handled poorly, but just like last time, they flat-out lied on the site about how it would be handled, which makes it so much worse. If they want to start trying honesty, I have helpfully drafted the following replacement announcement
:
"Ebayers, have you been hit hard by the economy? Want to make some quick money? DVC is here for you. Our members are bizarrely loyal and will pay outrageous prices for things we've promised them at a discount. Just stay up late on the date specified and buy 10 of these bags at a time. You'll get a 20% DVC discount even though you're not a member, and don't worry about having your Disney account shut down. We've made it easy for you to check out as a guest so we have no way to track your activity to see if you're abusing the system! Buy every last one that's in stock, if you're lucky.
"Members: good luck. We will not be posting a link to get the bags on Disneystore.com, but here's a helpful link to the ebay search results for 'dvc dooney.'"
Honestly, I'd have warmer feelings for the DVC if they hadn't even done this. This stuff is supposed to be a way to make members feel good about their membership, and it's backfired both times with me. I know it's also about money, but there's zero doubt in my mind that if these were restricted to members, they'd still sell out. I don't understand what Disney gains by catering to ebay sellers more than their DVC members. I used to rave about the DVC to anyone and everyone, but I haven't mentioned it since the last time they strung me along to check the website every night for one of these bags.
And they need to stop calling it the DVC Marketplace and just say it’s a landing page on Disneystore.com when you search for DVC.
Here's what it said on the DVC announcement about the bags coming back:
- Limit 2 bags per Member, per visit. <------ NOPE! You could order 10 at a time just like last time.
- Available while supplies last.
- You must present your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card along with a corresponding valid photo I.D. at the time of purchase. <------ WRONG AGAIN! There was no request for my membership number. You didn't even have to have a Disney account to get them. I tried and it let me go all the way through checkout as a guest.
