Dvc 25th anniversary dooney

I was lucky enough to get one, but only because I saved the links from the last time they were released (I checked the site every night for months hoping to get one). They never showed up for me as searchable.

Here's what it said on the DVC announcement about the bags coming back:
  • Limit 2 bags per Member, per visit. <------ NOPE! You could order 10 at a time just like last time.
  • Available while supplies last.
  • You must present your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card along with a corresponding valid photo I.D. at the time of purchase. <------ WRONG AGAIN! There was no request for my membership number. You didn't even have to have a Disney account to get them. I tried and it let me go all the way through checkout as a guest.
I'm happy I got one, but I've been a member for years and the way they handled this last time made me lose trust in the DVC. I was hoping this time around would be better, but it wasn't. I would guess the majority of these purchases were made by ebay sellers. I don't understand why these weren't restricted to accounts that are linked to a DVC membership (your DVC login works as a Disneystore.com login) and why there wasn't the 2 per person limit. Why even make these limited edition? Are they scared that if they make these an open edition or just make them available to members that they'll be stuck with a warehouse full of them?

I'm glad I got mine, but I'm very disappointed in Disney. Not only was it handled poorly, but just like last time, they flat-out lied on the site about how it would be handled, which makes it so much worse. If they want to start trying honesty, I have helpfully drafted the following replacement announcement :P:

"Ebayers, have you been hit hard by the economy? Want to make some quick money? DVC is here for you. Our members are bizarrely loyal and will pay outrageous prices for things we've promised them at a discount. Just stay up late on the date specified and buy 10 of these bags at a time. You'll get a 20% DVC discount even though you're not a member, and don't worry about having your Disney account shut down. We've made it easy for you to check out as a guest so we have no way to track your activity to see if you're abusing the system! Buy every last one that's in stock, if you're lucky.

"Members: good luck. We will not be posting a link to get the bags on Disneystore.com, but here's a helpful link to the ebay search results for 'dvc dooney.'"

Honestly, I'd have warmer feelings for the DVC if they hadn't even done this. This stuff is supposed to be a way to make members feel good about their membership, and it's backfired both times with me. I know it's also about money, but there's zero doubt in my mind that if these were restricted to members, they'd still sell out. I don't understand what Disney gains by catering to ebay sellers more than their DVC members. I used to rave about the DVC to anyone and everyone, but I haven't mentioned it since the last time they strung me along to check the website every night for one of these bags.

And they need to stop calling it the DVC Marketplace and just say it’s a landing page on Disneystore.com when you search for DVC.

I guess I'm glad that they're not making it easy for non-DVC members to buy 10 and sell them on eBay, but I don't know how we'd find these if DisneyFirstTimer10 hadn't posted the link! Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't think it was difficult for non-members. The links were all over public boards and Facebook groups. It's kind of disappointing but not surprising that purchasing isn't limited to members.

Well, there's a few already listed on eBay. Letter carriers range in price from $480-$500; totes are listed $578-$750. :sad2:

The letter carrier bag listed available to me just now. The tote, which is the one my wife wanted, is sold out.

18 months ago Disney Store had to resort to clearance pricing to move the last of its DVC exclusive Dooney & Bourke and Vera Bradley handbags.

Leaving the purchase quantity at 10 was a Disney Store error. That's their standard limit for Disney D&B handbags, but it should have been set to just 2 as the disclaimer indicated.

The language on website about showing an ID card was a careless copy & paste error. During the May release, the 25th anniversary bags were also sold in-store at WDW. They repeated similar policies without removing that irrelevant text.

The links now go to the dreaded Mike image, can't be found. So did they really all sell in one day? That is so ridiculous. I hope the ebayer gold diggers lose money on this.

When I logged in yesterday at 10:05 central time they were already sold out! Between these boards and Facebook, there are alot of unhappy and irritated members; which I am one of.

I think they should cancel the order of anyone who's ordered more than 2. I mean, seriously, what are they thinking when they're packing 10 at a time into the boxes for delivery?

The ebayers are just doing what they are allowed. DVC needs to control the sales better IMO but Disney in general just seems happy for the sales rather than if customers are perturbed or not.

Of course, if no one buys from the ebay sellers that would stop too.

eBayers are doing what DVC allows them to do, and they are taking full advantage of it.

I'm not an eBayer, but I could have ordered ten letter carriers, picked which one I liked best based on placement, and shipped the rest back. This would mean 9 members would have missed out on a letter carrier because I wanted to get the perfect one. This would be greedy, also.

For anyone who wanted one and couldn't get one, the prices on eBay are reasonable now. ($200 at the moment)

Try buying any DVC merchandise in the U.K. They won't ship, same as the parks app. Sadly many CM's don't know this and give poor advice.
Happy for you all who got your bags.
After 20 years as a DVC member I have stopped getting excited, as of this week I can't even get on the website!

DVC anniversary Dooneys are back! According to the DVC website, they are returning May 15, 2017!

You are confusing Disney with a company that cares about customer satisfaction. All they care about is cash in "FAST" so allowing 10 means they get cash a lot faster and spend a lot less on packing/shipping... A win/win for them they can "appear" to be attempting to limit sales while actually doing nothing! Don't expect the next release to be any different!

I have complained, but Disney doesn't care.. guest satisfaction is not a current metric apparently!

Any idea what time they go on? Will try not to get closed out again!!

No time given on the website and a limit of 2 bags per style per member, while supplies last. We know for the last release they allowed 10 per person, and a lot of members missed out.
