DVC 101 -- Need to know where to begin!!

Is there something I'm missing? Is there a "beginners" thread somewhere, or sticky that explains the basic how-to of renting DVC?

First you see how many points it costs to stay somewhere ...
Then you look on the rentals page for people renting ....
Then ... (you get the idea)

But where are alll these pieces of information?

I'm a DVC renting "dummy" and know absolutely nothing. It's difficult to figure out how to do this without even knowing where to start. I'm not sure if this is more expensive or less expensive than just booking the resort.

Where do I start? I'm clueless.

You can start with the sticky threads on the DVC Rent/Trade board. That should help.

Just start reading the threads and you will get a really good idea of how the DVC operates.

We took 2 years of study, staying a different DVC resorts, touring the DVC resorts, and talking to other owners before buying our first contract. I didn't find the DIS until much much later.
