Am going to DW for 4 nights in August, but I'm not sure whether we will be able to do parks on 5th day. Looking at 5-day Park Hopper Plus price advance purchase I am surprised to see it is about equal to DVC discount (9% off) on Ultimate Park Hopper. Am I missing something here? Granted, the Ultimate is better in that it includes Disney quest, however, we can save 5th day Park Hopper if we don't use it. The DVC discount seems a little diminished. Any thoughts?

I believe I've read in these forums that the DVC "Length of Stay" pass includes arrival and check-out day. One individual, I believe, stated that you can arrange to eliminate either the first day or the last day, and get a cheaper deal, but I'm not sure if my memory serves me well. Anybody know anything about that? I too would be interested to know, because in years when we are only taking one trip of ten or so days, it wouldn't pay to get an annual pass. Since we plan most trips to drive to and from PA, we wouldn't want a pass for check-out day.

... unless something has recently changed, they will let you drop either your arrival or departure day. I've heard, but have no first hand knowledge, that they have sometimes allowed you to drop both days.

I've bought my tickets from the same place dbond has twice. I personally prefer the Park Hopper Plus, because the unused days do not expire. I have one set of tickets with one day left, and another set of tickets with one day plus one Plus option. I may use these for next year's trip, since we do not plan on going to the parks every day.

With the Ultimate Park Hopper, whatever you don't use, you lose. If you're staying five days, and even drop the first or last day, you almost feel obligated to use every day, or lose them. However, if you decide mid-trip that you'd like to take a day to just "chill", as we have done on our last 2 trips(that's why we still have one day left on each pass), you will have wasted that extra day that you paid for.

The discount is hardly a consideration. I believe you should decide just how many days you will actually use/need, and if the UPH fits your needs, then go for it. If not, buy the PHP.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will check out the Florida ticket discounter, although I am nervous. I've always heard that the only places you can actually get WDW tickets was from AAA or Disney direct. Probably the Park Hopper plus is the way to go, I am just surprised that DVC members no longer seem to get much of a discount on tickets as compared to what anyone can buy on the Disney web site.

I've always wondered about those "discount places" but was too chicken to try 'em. We invariably gt PH+ passes (we too have a couple sets of passes with a few days/options here and there... once because we forget them at home and had to buy another set -- oh well!) I like the fact that the days don't expire and we can use them at our discretion.

I may very well try this outfit you listed for discount tickets. Just looking at the prices on a set of 7 day tickets (and knowing that the price only continues to rise :() I might just order some! THe $7 shipping cost is nothing compared to the savings for a fam of 5 (ahh sadly the 3 kids all require tickets now...)

THanks for the info!
