DVC “Confessions”

It's an excellent point. It's not going to stop anyone from giving an opinion, but it's an excellent point!! Although, you've probably seen BLT, and perhaps that still qualifies you to dislike it!
This seems to have turned into a "dump on other resorts" thread!

I haven't stayed anywhere yet that I truly disliked.

My confession is that I go to the DVC website every day and look up various room reservations, for no particular reason, I guess just to check availability and dream about going 😂
I think you can dislike the appearance of any, but until you stay it’s hard to say you won’t like it. I’m not a fan of towers, but I visited BLT and did a tour, so that opened my mind to buying there instead of CCV which was on my list, it was probably also the bad taste that BRV left, but when I think back it was pretty nice too. :)

I know what you mean - the lobby is stunning but it’s eerily quiet otherwise.
How about the BRV laundry room… we joked about it being the Iceland pavilion it was so freezing cold in there!!!

I look up available contracts almost weekly in case I win the lottery and can add on more points.
I confess that my original direct, large-contract buy-in was funded by an insurance settlement. Otherwise I would likely have never had a chance to afford DVC. So that probably makes me one of the imposters that is too poor to legitimately afford DVC.
DAILY.. trying to find the perfect add-on situation, or maybe the perfect contract for friends to buy to accompany mine. ;)

Tangental question: can someone really "like" or "dislike" a resort if they've never actually stayed at it to get the whole experience ?

For instance, I have an aversion towards BLT and thumb my nose at it, without ever having stayed there. I suppose that would be another DVC confession.....I'm bougie. 🙃
I think you can…you know what you like and what you don’t!

Boy, did we learn that one the hard way! When we had a trip scheduled at POFQ about when OKW (DVC then) opened, we were offered the chance to stay there a the same price. Not really knowing the resort, we didn't take the offer. But when we got to WDW, we drove around "DVC" and agreed how we disliked it. Then fast forward to 2002, our first trip as DVC members, and the only resort we could get for our last night was OKW. We shuffled in, regretful, but by the next morning, DH was so enthusiastic-he loved OKW now that he'd stayed there. We had the opposite reaction at another resort (no names)-we were so enthusiastic to stay there, thought we loved it, stayed there-not for us.

I don't understand why anyone would want any of the free junk that they give members (stickers, plastic cups, etc).
I did get a nice DVC hat once at VDH. And the MagicBand sliders are useful. I agree a lot is junk though.

Post a Virtual Queue and people will fall over themselves to get whatever they’re throwing at us. FOMO is how Expensive Cracker Barrel with (Paper!) Dishtowel Napkins, er, Homecomin’ is a sought-after DS table.

We accidentally came home with a teaspoon from VGC in our bag of sugar in 2013 and it's my very favorite souvenir ever. It reminds me of stirring and drinking my coffee in front of the picture window watching the cast members get paradise pier ready for the day. We had the best view and the best week. It's my coffee spoon now. If there's a fire, I will run in to save it. :rotfl:

My second favorite souvenir(s) are the parking placards they print for your dash when parking at VGC. It has your family's name on it and the resort logo. I have a collection and I'm looking forward to getting another next month when we drive instead of fly for the first time in years.

VGC the best

I like the Boulder Ridge lobby, but the hallways have extremely bad vibes. I don't know why, but I felt such a weird energy that I will never stay there again.
This is how I feel about the BCV hallways...and the elevator with the creepy Mickey and Minnie voices announcing the floors. Honestly I love everything about BC so much but the Villas themselves are very meh and out of the way.

When my DVC "backpack" arrived after my first direct purchase, I laughed so hard that soda came out my nose. I ended up giving it to my 5 year old niece, since it seemed like she was the only person in the extended family for which it was size appropriate.
LOL!! I ended up with a backpack for a 30-point add-on in 2018. It sure did look small. Since then, it's my 'go-to' bag for cruise and airplane carry-on. Traveled to London and Paris with it. My daughter said, "Are you catching how many people are casing the backpack?" :)

I always got those vibes at Trail's End, but that's kind of what I loved so much about it. There was something so "off" about the space that gave me a weird/creepy feeling. It's strangely one of my favorite spaces at WDW. I have't been there since they renovated, and am wondering if it's still like that.
