Have any of you campers ever used a Dutch Oven while staying at the Fort.
We Love making fresh biscuits in the morning at the campsite, and I was not sure if Disney allowed them to be used there.

You can use them, but it would have to be over your charcoal grill. There are no open fires allowed at campsites.

Yea, we have used them over our grill quite a few times in the past. Nothing beats cobbler in the Dutch Oven!!! :)

mmmmmm.....cobbler!!! Will you be making it during your July trip??? :cutie:

lol I wish!! We're not staying at the Fort for the July trip, just visiting it for the Hoop Dee Doo. Probably won't be back at the Fort until November, but if you want I'll have them Fed Ex a piece overnight...lol ;)

I'd love to know how to make it in a dutch oven on the grill! Will you share your recipe? There might be a Get Out of Jail Free pass in it for you!! ;)

Sure, I think I have it at home, if I don't post it tonight I'll try to get it up tomorrow!!

Look out FtWildernessGuy, I'm moving up on the board!! ;)

As far as how to use the grill for the dutch oven, just start some coals in the grill, then set the dutch oven on the coals and put a few coals on the D.O. lid.

Thanks...I love the Cobblers to. Also, can't wait to make a big 'ol Pizza at the campsite as well. My wife says I have way too much fun with the Dutch Ovens.

I'm not worried. It's lonely at the top.;)

Cobbler in Dutch oven is easy and tasty :stir:

One package of yellow cake mix
one can of fruit filling (cherry and peach are outstanding choices)
One 12 ounce can of 7up
2 slices of butter

Spread butter on bottom of oven
pour in drained fruit filling
cover with cake mix evenly
Make small channels in cake mix
Pour 7up in channels

cook until top is golden brown

eat as much as you want...

And Colson loses out on the get out of jail free card for procrastinating. I still maintain the only card on the camping board, if not the whole dis forum.

Yea, was my wifes birthday yesterday so didn't get a chance to log in, but that recipe is pretty much similar to what we do.

I'll find another way!!! ;)

You snooze, you lose!! :lmao:

Now.....how about a pizza recipe??

I haven't used a Dutch oven since I was a boy scout over 30 years ago. I'm gonna go out and buy one and subject my unsuspecting family to my culinary experiments!

Actually, one of our Scout patrols made a dutch oven pizza pie type thing on a campout a few months ago. It was pretty good, but bland, they didn't really thing about seasonings or anything, but add the appropriate spices and it would have been pretty darn tasty!!

We've done soups and stews in Dutch ovens. I've also used them when I was a Girl Scout and leader. When we camp up north in the fall it gets kinda chilly. Boy, does it ever taste good.

In fact, we could make a pot when we're there in December. I'll have to add that to my packing list.:)
