I took advantage of Dunkin Donuts promo for 4-1 lb bags of coffee for $20. I'm not a coffee drinker-I plan on using it for Christmas gifts. Should I freeze it or put it in the fridge...or is keeping it in a Rubbermaid container till Christmas ok?
I have no idea. I'm also not a big coffee drinker. I keep hearing that dunkin dounuts coffee is so good. Is it true? I've thought about trying it at our next party.
Are you packaging the coffie in jars, cone plastic bags??
nevermind- i thought i read 5lbs bags lol! guess i was thinking 4+1=5
I'm doing the same thing for the bus drivers. I'm just going to leave it in its package in the pantry. I'll just make sure the best by date is past Christmas.
Freezing and thawing causes moisture in/on the coffee beans which can lead to mold, and a shortened life. Also dulls the flavor of the beans in a quality coffee. As long as the coffee has a vacuum seal, unopened, and is before the expiration date, storage in a cool, dry area is fine.
I buy coffee beans in bulk (5 lb bag). I keep it in the freezer and have noticed no change in flavor. As long as it is tightly wrapped I think it will be fine.

That's what I thought. I keep my big Costco bag of DDonuts coffee in the freezer and just get it out every morning to use. I haven't noticed a difference either. Didn't realize I was damaging my grounds.
The coupon I had from the Sunday paper a while ago said it was good til 10/31, but the store I went to didn't even take the coupon, said they didn't need it. It is individual 1 lb bags. I'm not opening them. I think it's a nice consumable gift most people like that is pretty inexpensive....thanks for the replies....
