I'd be surprised if the Magic Kingdom ended up with two mine-themed roller coasters. Sounds fishy.
Why? Fantasyland in California has a mountain ride, the Matterhorn. It's one of the best rides there, top 10 for sure. This plan is obviously trying to make Magic Kingdom more comparable to
Disneyland. All I have to say to that is THANK GOD!!! MK is NOTHING compared to Disneyland.
Lets compare the 2 parks's Fantasylands
Dark Rides at DL- 5
Dark Rides at MK - 4
Roller coasters at DL - 1
Roller coasters at MK - 0
Outside rides at DL (Dumbo Teacups, etc) - 5
Outside rides at MK (Dumbo, Teacups, ect) - 3
Shows at DL - 0
Shows at MK - 1 (2, if you count the castle shows)
The plans would give MK 2 EXCLUSIVE rides, Beauty and the Beast and the Dwarf's Mine, something MK lacks. Also more dark rides. This would make the 2 parks a bit more even, but that's not the issue.
The problem with the MK is the Layout. At Disneyland the layout of Fantasyland is really open and homey with a enchanted village theme. At MK it's a Fair. It feels more magical at DL, and it feels HUGE!, at MK it feels very watered-down.
This plan would fix all that. With dumbo moved and the space pushed back it will feel bigger, the cheap sign for Snow White will be gone, and a new mountain ride will take your eyes off of all the ground attractions you see coming from the castle. It really would make a huge difference if this plan ever takes place, and like I said I thing a good part of it will happen (dumbo being moved and Little Mermaid dark ride) , but the other 2 rides depend on the fate of the Snow White Dark Ride.
I would assume most of the props will be moved from SWSA to the new mine coaster to make it much more like the Matterhorn than Big Thunder Mt. The Matterhorn has scenes of snowfall, crystal hunters and the yeti. I would expect something similar to that. Also I think it will mosting be indoors with a Mountain facade.
