Dumbledore is gay.

1.Did you know about it? No.
2. Is is shocking? not really... it makes sense
3. What do you think about it? i think its awesome that jo doesnt have a problem with gay people
4.Do you think that she should have told us that in her book? i think it would have been interestingn if she had hinted at it more, but i think its also great that theres still ways that she can make a diffference in the harry potter world... theres still so many things we dont know

Never really expected it, but makes sense. I was wondering what would have caused Dumbledore to go along with Grindelwald's plans, and it makes perfect sense that he was blinded by love. Great twist, and there is a part of me that would have loved for Rowling to dive into that torn heart, Dumbledore duels against the man he loves thing, but this was Harry's story, not Dumbledore's.

I think that it was a little too much to work into the books since many "uncultured" readers would most likely have trouble getting past it. And like i said before, this was Harry's story, not Dumbledore's.

I'm very happy that Rowling made Dumbledore being gay a completely secondary trait that has nothing to do with the man/wizard that he is. It does explain alot of Dumbledore's actions with Grindelwald which did seem like Rowling was leaving something out.

1. Did you know? - No, I hadn't thought of it.

2. Is it shocking? - I was surprised at the time I heard it, but thinking back, I'm really not. It explains a lot of the Grindewald storyline better.

3. What do you think? - Fine by me. And proof again that JK is an extremely deep writer to have such full characterizations of everyone in her mind, even beyond what she has included in the books.

4. Should she have told us in the book? - No, I figure it's Dumbledore's personal business, and I doubt he would have shared the information with students. Since we as the readers see the story mostly from a student's point of view, we wouldn't be told either.

I was pretty surprised, it's not something I was thinking about when I was reading the books, so it took me by surprise a bit.

It's a pretty cool twist on things though, I think it's really awesome in a literary sense that she didn't include it in the story. Like the poster above me said, it's awesome to see that there are just extensive character developments that we don't even see. I'd like to be able to read all the stories of the characters that i'm sure J.K's got stashed away somewhere.

This has absolutley nothing to do with J.K or her books, but it would've probably benefitted Michael Gambon to know that the character he's playing was secretly gay. Alot of the time actors develop extensive back stories to help create their character, and that would've helped Gambon alot with his character I think.
Not that that should matter at all to J.K.

1.Did you know about it? Yes
2. Is is shocking? Yes
3. What do you think about it? :scared1:  :sad2:
4.Do you think that she should have told us that in her book? Or like how she did at a book signing. In the book:confused3

1.Did you know about it? I Think it is horrible
2. Is is shocking?Yes
3. What do you think about it? I think that maybe she should put that in her book or something. Think about all the kids reading and seeing that Dumbeldore is Gay.
4.Do you think that she should have told us that in her book? Or like how she did at a book signing
Yes

I know it is hard to understand what Im saying but it just kinda seems dumb. The book was fine, why now say he is gay?

I don't really understand.
Are you uspet with children being subjected to a gay character and role model?
Or are you upset that Rowling didn't include it in the books, and it seemed like just an add-on that didn't relate to the books?
Or did you feel like it didn't match up to the previosuly developed character of Dumbledore?

Just trying to understand where you're coming from.

1.Did you know about it? No

2. Is is shocking? No

3. What do you think about it? I think that she shouldn't tell things about characters except in the book, i mean why now tell us that hes gay??? I dont really see the whole point.

4.Do you think that she should have told us that in her book? Or like how she did at a book signing? I think she should've told us in the book

She told us now, after all the books were out because if she told the world that when she released her first book a TON of people would not buy her books/watch the movies/etc.

As for me,I don't really have an opinion because I haven't read the books but I think it's cool that Dumbeldore is gay. A little shocking but still cool.

She probably didn't even know way back then that Dumbledore was gay. She worked on this series for a long, long, long time. So it was probably something she decided over time.

I pretty much knew. I'm not surprised. Although I am a bit disappointed.
