Hi everyone - Im training for the princess 1/2 and I have not had any issues outside of shin splints until this..............now Im woried

Last week, my training was less than ideal I did 8 on Sunday - which was great and ran once while I was in Disney for the weekend (Fri,Sat&Sun).

First the TM at AKV - are horrible!! They are old and have no cushion, which after running friday night I decided to just throw in the towel --- it did not help I was up since 3am (since lovely dh picked the 6am flight out to orlando-:headache:)

Bottom line - I was OK with taking an easy week and just running twice, I have really been doing great only missing 1 run in 5 weeks.

We flew home Sun night and was in bed by 1am and up at 6am to start the week and put my college professor hat on

I figured Mon, I needed to recover just from being so gosh darn tired, and Tue well the reality of back to work sunk back in. all of which I am OK with - honest~

Last night, I was still tired but I knew I needed to back on the program and start running again. After only doing 1 mile I became very weak and dizzy and just out of sorts, I was determined to complete the 3 miles and asked my husband to get me sports beans ......... something to help me finish.

I was dripping, but finished 3 -- although I felt horrible doing it and i was so sweaty for just doing 3 - not to be to personal but I when I did 8 miles i was the same hot sweaty mess. It does not make any sense to me what happend.

Maybe my body just wanted no parts to running - I dont know......but I am so puzzled.

Any suggestions what could have happened? or what i can do for it to NEVER happen again??

P.S. Since I have been home I have also stopped drinking coffee after dinner, so we ate dinner at 6:30 and I did my tm at 10:45pm (which is normal for me since i have 4 children - my 8 miles I did at 11pm - so the time is about the same)

Some times you just have bad runs with no explaination. Possibly you were dehydrated, or coming down with something you don't know about yet, or tired from travel and early mornings. Don't stress about it because that just might make things worse. Try again another day and maybe you'll feel better. If you don't, it might be time to schedule an appt with your doctor. Maybe you're anemic?

Good luck.

TIRED!

I see a lot of 6 ams and 11 pms and unless you are getting a very restful nap you are burning your candle at both ends. Stop the super human days and give yourself a great night's sleep. (I understand that some of the early and late are not on the same days but the big swings in sleep patterns is not restful either.

You should plan evening runs so you can give yourself 2-3 hours post run to cool down and relax. Trying to cut the margin too close does not allow for a restful sleep nor does it promote recovery.

The other is that you were 4+ hours post meal before you ran. You need a litle glycogen in the system to work off of.

Maybe you are getting a cold..sounds alot like me...stayed at AKL Jan 19-23-came home, I was okay-not great- for a week, then bonked my 9 mile (got 8 in) on Tuesday-felt hot, sweaty-then cold, sore and now a terrible head cold. When I came in from my run, my husband said I looked like I was going to die-
Maybe some bad cold germs going on at AKL.
Hope you figure it out..feel better so you can finish your training. We run in a month!:scared1:

Thank you so much for all of your posts!

I am going to do 3 again today, rather than 5 as the plan calls for - something is better than nothing at this point. I am drinking more water today, but not really hungry either so maybe I am getting a cold who knows.

Either way I need it gone :)

Believe it or not, nothing may really be better than anything right now. You need to listen to your body if it's tired. I know it can be scary sometimes. Even John Bingham says somethign about one of the hardest things to do sometimes is to not run. If you are tired tonight, it may be best just to givve yourself some more rest. All teh WDW walking and lack of sleep can catch up with you more than you think. Good luck! :wizard:

Hi everyone -

Well all of you were right, my body was screaming for a break!! been so gosh darn tired I needed a break.

decided to take a break and not worry about my running plan. I am going to try tonight for 3 miles which will only be my 2nd run of the week. tomorrow depending on how I feel will depend what I do then.

Either way thank you for listening to my body and telling me what I needed which was a break!! LOL

yea I cant stress that enough, if you're sick or injured, a lot of times nothign is WAY better than something. Especially sick. Injured you can do other activities to get around, but sick things can get a lot worse. The first place your body steals energy from when you're training for a long event like this is your immune system. Also you might want to try a multivitamin. Nothing super expensive/elaborate is needed, but maybe you're just short on something. Either way it cant hurt to try.

Glad we were able to convince you. I was worried about you pushing it and gettingmroe furstrated. :goodvibes It's a very hard lesson to learn, but very valuable. Pat yourself on teh back for lettign yourself have that break!
