dumb questions: Does the whiskey chocolate cake at Le Cellier

When you put booze in batter, the alchohol bakes out. The only time it's an issue is if it's in the frosting. I've found the whiskey just adds a deeper flavor to the chocolate with a touch of smoke that I doubt kids would be able to pick out.

perfect! DD will be 12 and not happy if she can't have chocolate cake!

I was a server there for a long while, and I've had many compliments about that cake. Having tried it a number of times, I can say there is a strong whiskey taste, if you don't like whiskey - you'll for sure notice it more. It does bring out a lovely flavor in the chocolate, as well.

It's no longer served at dinner, and there is talk of getting rid of it at lunch as well - the menu change is on March 14, so you'll know then.

I know a lot of people say this but that is not always the case. It depends on how long it cooks and how it is cooked.

The FDA did some studies and with some cooking methods, a considerable amount of alcohol remained. So if that is an issue now you know.

it is totally incorrect that alcohol cooks out...it does NOT! After 30 minutes of baking, at least 35% of the alcohol would remain in the cake. And is the alcohol in the cake batter or in the frosting/filling? If it's in a frosting or filling that is not cooked, then it's almost all still there.

If you don't want your children consuming alcohol, do not let them order foods containing alcohol.

see the article in the link below for a chart showing how long it takes to cook-out alcohol...note that even after baking for 2.5 hours, there is still alcohol remaining (not a lot, but some is there...and of course cakes do not take 2.5 hours to bake, lol.)

Any ideas on what else they might be changing on the menu?

Any ideas on what else they might be changing on the menu?

Indeed.

First, it's just lunch. No dinner changes.

The duck meatballs are switching to a duck crepe.
The tomato stack will be a tomato salad - like the dinner version
The gnocchi will become 'Caprese Style'
There will be no more steak and potato skillet

A few dessert changes that they are working on...

Thanks, we're going for lunch first week of June. I'm still wanting to go and will decide accordingly what to eat at that time. There are already some conflicting menu's circulating. Do you know if the burger is still on the lunch or not? Are they still going to keep the prix fixe menu?

Yeah, burger is staying. It's the best lunch item. It would be a shame to get rid of it. Easily the best burger on Disney properity.

And yes, the Prix Fixe is still there, though the items on it may change. You'll still have the classics of course - Cheese Soup/Chocolate 'Moose'/Burger, etc.
