Dumb question...

Ok, I've been to Universal Hollywood several times but this is first time to Orlando. I've been trying to read up on everything and have read about all the rides at Universal Orlando. Well, my question is... are the rides in place of the backlot tour in Hollywood? Cuz it seems like the rides they mention, like Earthquake and Jaws, are experienced on the tour in Hollywood.

Some of the rides from the backlot are at USO.

Jaws is a full ride, about 6 minutes long.

Earthquake is now Disaster! which I've heard is better than Earthquake.

Kongfrontation, which had King Kong, is long gone. It's now the amazing Revenge of the Mummy.

There are several other great rides here, at at IoA.

Some more from USO: ET Adventure!

Plus, there's Twister...supposedly like Backdraft (with more wind!)

Ride vids can be found at www.universalorlando.com
or check some on youtube!

Jaws and Earthquake are only 1-2 minute segments of the studio tour. In Orlando, they are their own attractions and very different.

Jaws is, like Amanda said, about a 6-minute boat ride.

Disaster! is about a 30-minute experience which takes you behind-the-scenes of disaster movie-making before heading into the ride portion of Earthquake.

They're both not to be missed. :)

There is no comparison between the two. Like the previous posters said, in Orlando, they are full length rides. In Hollywood, you just briefly drive through in your tram.

I actually also MUCH prefer the Mummy coaster better at USO than Hollywood.

I only live 1/2 hour from Universal Hollywood and my family goes to Universal Orlando more often, because once you experience USO, Hollywood is a bit of a let down.

This is true. I went to USH this past Sept. It was fun, Backdraft and JPRA are better in Hollywood than their Orlando counterparts (Twister = Backdraft's counterpart).

That being said, both coasts have a lot of awesome experiences.

USO and USH are pretty much the same in my eyes. But like previous posters said...They're full length attractions. However...IMHO...The USH Jaws section is worse than the one at USO...In the respect that I screamed like I didn't for the USO one...:scared1: ... The video tape is funny. I'll leave it at that.

Twister isn't as loud as Backdraft...Personally...I think everything is better at USH than USO. The major thing that sets USO from USH is the fact that USO has IOA. But I'd allow a whole day for USO. Just...Don't come with the idea that USO is USH and don't have the same expectations. The rides and stuff are the same...the experience...completely different.

I have to completely disagree. Yes USO is far better because it has IOA, but if you only compare USO to USH, USO still wins.

Terminator and Shrek are exactly the same at both parks. ROTM is far superior at USO. Jurassic River Adventure & Backdraft have a slight edge at USH and the tram ride is a very unique experience. They also have Water World at USH that is O.K.

However, USO has a far superior kids area that includes E.T., Woody's roller coaster and the Fievel play area with a water slide. Also they have the Jimmy Nuetron ride/show for kids. Nothing at USH can compare to the MIB ride. Also IMO the buildings are better themed in the New York and San Francisco areas.

There is *one* difference. Shaq's jersey is his old "34" while he played for the Lakers at USH. In Orlando, it's his old "32" from when he played for the Magic. The jersey colors respect the appropriate teams, of course. :3dglasses

Great observation, DM!:thumbsup2 I've never been to USH, but I don't think I would have noticed that.

I never knew that, I'll have to look for both next time I'm in the parks :thumbsup2 .
