Dumb question

Our local dollar store carries rain ponchos. We're going in August, so I know we'll need them and I would rather pay $1 here than 5 or 10 times as much at WDW.

But.... do you re-use them or toss them? I'm wondering how many to buy. I can't see folding a wet poncho back up into the tiny little package it comes in. But 5 ponchos times 7 days is a lot of plastic:confused3

Thats an excellent question. We bring them everytrip to guarantee no rain! So no weve never actually had to use them but we bring one for each of us and carry them for nothing, but I know that if we didnt bring them it would pour (and I know this b/c we forgot them one day and it did pour!) thats just our luck!!!

The ones we got from our dollar store came with 2 in a pack and were really thin. I don't know if you could reuse them, or at least not for long:rotfl:
We kept ours the day we used them, then dumped them at the end of the day. My suggestion would be buy the thicker more durable ponchos and just keep reusing them, or use the cheaper ones for the day, then use new ones if needed the next day:)

We bought the dollar store ones and dumped them when we went in August, but I think we only needed them one day so it wasn't really an issue in the end. It definitely would've been a pain to try and reuse them though because they are so thin. I just couldn't see having to lug around the thicker plastic ones once they'd been opened up. Too much trouble for vacation. Sorry, I know that's not a very "green" answer.

we bought extra but didn't use them unless we had holes. Just hang them up to dry each night and refold and put into baggie. These fit in our fanny packs along with snacks. We only did this because it rained every day of our trip. If the forcast looked better we would have thrown them away.

We did the same. Once it was opened (& dry), we just crunched it back up as small as possible and packed it back in the fanny pack. I did toss them at the end of our trip.

We usually just throw ours away. Have fun!

I carry a plastic ziploc bag in my backpack to stuff the wet ponchos in and then when we get back to the room I hang them up to dry.

I buy the ones at the dollar tree and throw them away at the end of the day. I do not mind to be a bit wet. Pack extra socks in your fannie pack or backpack.

I always carried a "disposable" poncho with me on my trip last month. But they're pretty thin and if it rains all day, the WDW ponchos are better. I did end up investing in a WDW poncho for the first time last month, because they were just more durable, bigger, and more comfortable than the disposable ones.
