dumb question-What are Dings, and how do you sign up?

Do you get emails saying there are specials or are these only for short notice flights?

I would love to be able to plan but have never heard of Dings, except everyone is talking about it here?

DING! is a program you download from Southwest Airlines that allows them to DING! you a couple times a day with special fares to/from cities that you into/out of. For example, I recently booked an $89 fare each way to MCO. A DING! fare came out a month or so before our trip for $46 going and $51 coming back. Round trip for two was around $230. If you have an airport nearby that SWA flys out of, it would be worth it to download DING!. It also pays to sign up for their email updates. They come out every Tuesday around 2AM MST and sometimes Fridays. While you're at it, get a Rapid Reward card/number by February 2nd for special awards that will be given out through DING! through June 18th, the 20th anniversary of RR.

I downloaded DING! but couldn't get it to work...
Hopefully, I can figure it out...I need cheap airfare or we're driving and missing out on the 40% off!
