Dumb question use year

I know I should know this but I do not I had booked a stay for my son and due to some awful circumstances he can not go now. Trip was January 1-5 2022 using 2021 points with a February use year . What if anything can I do with the points ? And when do they expire? I haven’t cancelled yet but am planning to today, thank you so much for any help.

Those points expire January 31st, 2022. One of the big risks traveling so late in your UY.

Having said that, it doesn’t hurt to call and explain and see if you can get them to pixie dust you and bank. Since you are more than 31 days out it won’t put them in holding yet..don’t wait much longer though.

Thanks so much for your help, that was what I was worried about. I will call today and hope for pixie dust but I will not expect any I know it’s ultimately my fault

If you can't get them banked, maybe rent out the reservation? At least you won't be left with nothing.

If you don't mind the potential risks, it shouldn't be too difficult to rent out unless you are looking for full rental price.
