Ok, search is just more confusing than ever. I am sure those bugs will eventually be worked out. (thanks for the hard work Alex and all involved in the technical aspects of the Dis)

In the meantime, I have never (in the 5 years I have been posting) used the 'subscribe to this thread' option. I guess I just always did a search if I was looking for something or someone.

My question is this, if I subscribe to a thread, am I going to be swamped by email notifications each time someone responds to a thread I have subscribed to? And/or is there an 'opt for no email notifications' for that, like the pm option to not be notified by email?

I just don't want my email box getting swamped with notifications from multiple threads, as I use it for business purposes.

Thanks!

I think you have to turn it off. If you go to "User CP" and click and on the left hand side click on "Edit Options" there's a box that needs to be unchecked that says something about receieving e-mail notifications from threads you're subscribed to. Then you shouldn't receive any from subscribed threads. I don't at least. :dance3:

There IS a way. I screwed around with it a lot before I stopped the emails, and don't remember what worked, but it can be done. Someone will know exactly how.

If you post to it, though, it'll show up when you click on your User CP thingy, on the list. Dunno what CP in "User CP" is. I like to think of it as "User - Certain Person." :)

If you click the subscribe to the thread link it will give you a pop up box that asks if you want instant email notification or none, etc. I always select no email notification. Then you simply click subscribe to the thread after you select which you prefer. HTH!

ETA: Okay, not a pop up box. It's a menu box when it takes you to there. I can't seem to get my thoughts out right but hopefully you know what I mean. This is why sleep is a good thing, lol!

I use the Subscribe option when I want to watch a thread, but have not posted. I do not get email notifications. When I want to see new posts I use the Quick Links menu to select Subscriptions. As with all the boards, the threads in bold text have new posts since your last visit.
