So I'm planning on driving down to Fort Wilderness my next trip and was having a conversation about it with my mom who brought this up-

Can you bring fresh produce into Florida? I know my parents had to ditch a cooler full of stuff when they were driving out west and crossed into California, they weren't allowed to bring any fresh produce across the state line. Does FL have the same rules? I'd rather make a grocery stop in FL rather than throw food out like that.

lol I've only ever flown or taken the train into FL so this has never come up for me before.

There is an agriculture inspection station on Highway 19 / 27 in Fanning Springs FL. That is the only one I have seen and I have made the trip more times than I can count. I have never been stopped for an inspection. Only large commercial semi trucks or farmers with loads of produce are stopped or are required to stop. Your bananas are safe............... If you stay on the interstate there are no agriculture inspection points.
So feel free to bring your exotic fruits and veggies.

Here is the link if you want more information. Scroll down the website and it will explain who has to stop and what they are looking for.

Doubt they're concerned about an 'individuals' consumption - more about what can be hiding (insects) in truckloads that go to various markets - different on international flights though - especially coming 'into' the US - found that out!!!!

thanks all! I figured if I do my grocery shopping before I come down it's one less thing to worry about once I get there. :)
