Are there any villas, condos for less than $50 nightly in Orlando, Kissimmee or Lake Buena Vista? I'd love to have a 1-2 bedroom with kitchen and a pool, ok can live without our own pool but,
that would be a big plus :) any take AAA? just feeling this out
and am new to this so please be gentle.lol.
Thanks, Maryann :)

You know the old saying "The only dumb question is one that is not asked".
Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I hope someone here will be able to help you :D

It would depend a lot on the time of year you want to go. Last year I got a 2 bedroom at Windsor Palms for $55/night for the beginning of April.
Other than that, you could get a 1 bedroom suite at Days Suites for less than $50 a night. It gets bad reviews sometimes but I would stay there in a pinch. It has a kitchen, living area and separate bedroom.

We got a great deal through HotelKingdom.com at the Maintstay Suites. Haven't stayed there yet, but looking forward to it.

Not a dumb question at all...:D And it's absolutely possible to do this, because we have done it. In 2002, we used the Armed Forces Vacation Club (AFVC) which is available to active duty and retired military (and I believe a reservation can be made by those eligible and transferred to family/friends for a fee). We paid $249 total for 7 nights for a 2 bdrm unit at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club near Sea World. Wonderful experience!

We just got back from a trip to WDW and stayed for 2 weeks at Orange Lake in a 2 bdrm villa there. We won 2 weeks (separate auctions) on Skyauction and paid an average of $48 per night...we paid less for the first week and more for Christmas week, which we expected.

We had no trouble with either the AFVC or Skyauction and I wouldn't hesitate to do either again. One caveat...these are weekly deals, subject to set check in dates, usually on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If you have to check in mid-week or have a shorter stay, it may not work for you.

Good luck...the deals are out there! :smooth:

Local girl,
Can you tell us more about this armed forces vacation club? When you say "retired" military, do you mean lifelongers? Or does having served count?

A true budget traveler - I can relate to that.

BonnieA is absolutely right. 2-bedroom condos at Windsor Palms start at $55/nite. You won't have your own pool, but there is a nice community pool at the clubhouse. Check it out at:

As for the Days Suites she mentioned, we stayed there in November 2002 and were very pleased. I think the folks who have given negative reviews simply expected too much for $39.95/nite. We thought the suite was very spacious and in a great location right next to Old Town. Their website is:

Another option to consider is taking advantage of one of those special offers from a timeshare property like Marrriott or another reputable company. They'll often offer a 4-day stay at a very low rate as long as you attend a 90-minute sales presentation. They usually let you extend your stay at a good rate.

Just sent you a PM. Retired military refers to those who have served 20 years+ in the service or were medically retired from the military.
