... the expiration dates. Does anybody have any kind of clue what's going to happen to the DVC resorts after that time?

I'm just curious.

I'll probably be dead by then :rotfl2: , but would be interested all the same (hand me down to DD).

no one knows. disney can tear them down and build nicer hotels or timeshares as business conditions dictate...or try to rent them as suites...or extend the expiration date as they did with OKW.

The reason I was asking is because DH and I are thinking of buying at some point in our lives... I really like the WLV, BCV and BWV due to the locations (haven't ever stayed in any of them), and I'd like to buy into them, but we'd only be getting ~30 years... Then DH started thinking that, as it gets closer to the deadline (if Disney doesn't announce anything about what their plans are) the per point price will probably drop (relatively), since who would want to shell out big bucks for something with a short expiration date...

I should have bought when I was still in college. (hahahah - as if I had the money)

Talk about a crystal ball question! Well, we see it this way . . .

  1. DVC can opt to extend the life of the current resorts with extensions to current members.
  2. DVC can also choose to sell new DVC contracts for the current resorts once the expirations dates hit (provided the buildings are kept up).
  3. If the above options aren't feasible to DVC, the old resorts can be torn down to build new and better resorts (hotels or DVC).

Or, Disney will be Disney: A proud member of company's that report to shareholders and must insure revenue and profits are in good line. Thus, my crystal ball says:

[*]DVC can opt to extend the life of the current resorts with extensions to current members.

Is the only option I see. They have done this at OKW, and, will continue to do it with the others (imho). Why wait to 2042 to re-sell or knock down BWV or BCV? Make the profit now. What a nifty little tool WDW has as the economy begins to turn down.

If HH and VB are not good perfromers (and I have no idea if they are or are not), then, they may opt to not extend those contracts and sell the property outright at the conclusion.
