Dumb question about public codes....

IF a code does come out for May (waiting patiently here) can it be applied to an already booked room only ressie or do you have to book based on availability the time the code comes out??

Not sure this makes any sense, but I've been waiting for a code for the ressie I already made and read something that sounds like it can not be applied and I'm afraid there won't be any avail at the resort for the dates I need when/if those codes finally come out.

I do not have an AP nor a AAA but I would get the AAA membership for $60 if it would save me a decent amount of money on my room.

I believe you can apply a code or AAA rate (if applicable) anytime to you're existing ressie. If you do book a AAA rate, you need to present you're ID card at check-in.

Booking is always dependent on availability. They have a number of rooms available associated with each code. For instance, we have WL woods view booked with an email code for our trip in May. There are no WL standard rooms available with our code, but if we wanted to pay rack rates, the standard rooms were available.

Not sure I compeletly understand your question but....assuming a public code comes out from disney that you wish to apply to your ressie, you could only apply it if there is still availability with that code. So in other words, if you have a ressie for AKL and a code comes out you may call and find that they are all sold out of availability to apply the code to the hotel and view you have a ressie for. You could change your ressie to something available with the code. Or you could keep your current ressie and pay rack rate.

I'd suggest making a ressie at the hotel you can afford without any discounts then if codes come out and you can apply it to your ressie or upgrade yourself to another resort then all the better.

I have no idea about AAA codes though - seems like they sell out as well.

Thanks, that is what we did. We booked POFQ standard view, and I think we'd stay there even with a code, but we may do 8 nights instead.

I think you all answered my question, that yes there does need to be current availability to use the code. Now if only some codes would come out!!!
