Since last summer my wife said she wanted to be in the magic kingdom on her birthday to start the 50th - Oct 1. I have had my BRV ressie since the day I was able to get it. We both take care of our elderly parents and have now grown a little weary going with the uptick of COVID. I believe we are going to pullout and look at going another time. Since I purchased 4 day tickets for the both of us and they will not be used in the time period set forth when i purchased them…how will this tickets work when we want to go another time. Will I get the “credit” towards another set of tickets…lose what I have??? Thanks for helping!

They will credit you the value of the ticket toward the new ones. Keep the ticket numbers as they will disappear from MDE on your end, although ticketing will still be able to see them.

Just a reminder, if you do cancel, do it soon before the 30 day mark so you don't end up with Holding status on those points.

As @Sandisw said, the tickets will disappear from your MDE account if you do not change them before, or use them by the original dates. (since a 4 day ticket allows you to go any 4 days within 7 days of the start of the ticket, I think a 4 day ticket that starts Oct. 1st will expire and disappear from your MDE after Oct 7th.) Prior to that ticket disappearing on that date, you can change the dates yourself online and pay the price increase, if any, for the new dates. No refund is given if the new dates are less expensive. After that date, you would need to call ticketing to apply the value of the expired ticket that had disappeared from your MDE to a new ticket.

ETA: Once you know you are going to cancel your trip, you could consider changing your ticket before it expires and disappears, to dates in the future that are about the same price. That way it remains visible in your account and you can change it again online yourself for a future trip as long as you make that second change before the new expiration date. I priced a 4 day 1 park a day ticket starting Oct 1st 2021 and it came out $475.74 pretax, $506.67 after tax. If I assume that is your current ticket, if you moved that ticket to a start date of June 25th 2022, the price would go to $475.25 pretax, $506.15 after tax. You would lose 52 cents, but the ticket would remain visible in your account and you could change it yourself online later anytime before it disappears. Definitely anytime before June 25 2022, but possibly as late as July 2nd. Or you could change it to dates that are a few dollars more, pay the difference, and have that higher value to apply. (A 4 day ticket starting Sept. 29 2022 is $478.77 pretax, $509.90 after tax.)

I only mention this because it took us 4 days of getting disconnected from ticketing, sometimes after waiting a long time on hold, and then waiting over 2 hours on hold when we finally did get through. We were trying to use the credit from an expired ticket that had disappeared from our account, and that can only be done by calling ticketing. The actual change took less than 5 minutes once we got through to ticketing. Hopefully in the future wait times will be much shorter, but personally I would pay $.52 for 1 ticket, or $1.04 for 2 tickets to avoid having to call ticketing.

I understand your qualms, but I'd like to say, ( as a retired ICU nurse), I feel pretty darn safe at WDW. For extra, we bring a pack of Clorox wipes and go over everything we might touch( this take about 4 mins, the granddaughter timed us, LOL),including the handle on the toilet, light switches and remote. I know they do a rinse cycle in the washer and wipe out the dryer, and same with dishwasher.
Staff is vaccinated now, plus they all wear masks all the time. People wear masks as they should and we don't get in elevator with others unless they are vaccinated too. ( we ask, have yet to find anyone there who isn't. ) WE have been to Disney and Vero beach resort and I vouch for both.
Fly SW airlines ( if you must fly) wash hands in airport and use sanitizer, and you should be just fine! Believe me, I understand, I might stay out of Magic Kingdom Oct 1st . but you can watch from several places as close or as far as you're comfortable with.
You have every right and the choice is up to you. No right or wrong answer here. Just wanted you to have some facts first hand to help you make whatever choice you do.

Sorry you had to cancel. I completely understand...we had been in the same position of caring for ageing parents...every time we would go away we never really could relax even though we had all kinds of back up plans in case something happened. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be now....being afraid of a germ you might bring back with you and in turn making them ill. Hopefully you can reschedule another trip during the 50th. Bless both of you for being there for your parents. It’s not an easy thing to do.

You are TOO kind DD! Please know i am very appreciative of your kind and thoughtful words. It was a tough decision but one we are comfortable with now that we are making the correct call! I am currently rescheduling for my 60th Bday in march — it will give us something to look forward to and hope COVID will be more manageable!

My condolences as well. As I mentioned above, now that you know your dates for March, you should be able to change the dates on your existing tickets online yourself if you do it before the existing tickets expire. However, in answer to your original question, if you decide to wait, you can always use the credit by calling ticketing, you will not lose what you have.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad you’re rescheduling. Best wishes that your 60th is a great one!

OK…here goes another dumb question…

I got in right away this morning and bought 2 Incredi-pass for the wife and I. Since we will not begin to use them until a trip this July…the expiration will be 1 year from the first date of use? I only ask because when i look at the pass on MDE is has the expiration of 9/7/2022.

As always I am thankful for those that offer help!

Is you trip really next July? No dates are blacked out in July through October 2022, and Disney has not announced what the blackout dates will be for November 2022 and beyond? Based on your initial post when you started this thread, I assume you are a DVC member, so the Sorcerer pass might have better fit your needs.
Below is from another thread. The way I read it, if you activate your pass by 9/7/2022 it will be good for 1 year from the date of first use. However, if you do not activate it by that date it expires, but you will be able to use the credit for a new pass.
Plus the wording is different at the bottom of the purchase email:

Pass certificates expire one year from purchase. After one year, the amount paid for an unused, expired pass certificate may be applied towards the purchase of a new pass at current prices so long as the new pass purchase price is equal to or greater than the amount paid for the original pass certificate.”

This is exactly in line with the new Magic Keys in Anaheim.

They might not be a blue card member or they might also have an additional trip planned for late December 2022 (which will be blocked out regardless).

Great point. I forgot about the Sorcerer pass only being available to blue card members.

Yup…I am just a low life white card member. LOL…we will not activate the pass and use it for the first time until July 11, 2022…so I will assume it will be good until July 10, 2023.
