Dumb Q Re: Peter Pan ride

We went on this ride last year in July and my DD1 (5y) was terrified!!! She didn't like the dark, she didn't like the boat and she loves Peter Pan as a film. Maybe she just expected the ride to be like the film

So was just wondering why (most of you if not all) do you all find this ride so magical... To be honest with you all, I found it a bit dark and not so special but maybe we just don't like rides like that

My DD took about 3 goes on Peter Pan before she even opened her eyes on the ride - but she likes it now.

I wouldn't wait in a line for Peter Pan, but we do like to ride it with fastpass. I see different things each time we ride it, and I love the mermaid bit and the bit where Peter and Hook are fighting on the ship, then you turn the corner and the ship turns gold - I never noticed that on our first couple of rides.

Its very well done, IMO.

The first time i was in DLRP (1996) we didnt go on PP because there was a long queue, no fastpass then, and we didnt bother.
The second time round (1999) we queued for it as we had been told it was magical and i can tell we all four where a bit disappointed as we found it pretty *childish* if it makes sense.
Last september just me and my partner went (because it was raining honestly lol) and i felt the same.
But maybe it's just me as quite a few are amazed by it.

I liked it, but not overly, DS (6) loved it and DD (almost 3) was totally freaked out by the dark.

Well, all rides have their fans and detractors and I can certainly understand a child being hesitent of a "dark ride".

However, when you board the ride, you are sitting inside the "Jolly Roger" (Peter Pan's ship) and you are dusted off to Neverland as Peter excalims, "Here We Go".

The opening sequence has Wendy, John, and Michael in the nursery and then you start to go a bit higher and you see Nana barking as you overlook the city of London all in miniature, lit up beautifully. Almost like an Earnshaw painting come to life.

Then your ship slowly glides over the various stops of Neverland, Tiger Lilly's family, the Mermaid Lagoon. You see Captain Hook and Smee with their pirate ship and eventually the three children are taken hostage. Then Peter and Hook have a battle on the mast.

The fact that the ride is dark and the attention to detail is quite amazing. When we rode with my friend's child (age 3 at the time) we said the ride had to be dark so that Captain Hook couldn't see us and we would be safe to see Peter's adventures from a distance. Worked for her.

As an adult, I usually ride this at least twice during a visit but I wouldn't wait more than 20-30 minutes to do so. As a first time visitor, I would describe it as a "must see" but I think that all of Fantasyland is that way, where the magic resides . . . .

Difficult to say why I do like a ride. I just enjoy it. I love the ultraviolet effect while flying over London and the way there appear to be cars driving on the roads below.

This is one of the few rides I remember from my last trip to DLP! It was magical to me as you 'fly' over London and Neverland.... It was just gorgeous! It was also magic as it was a ride my whole family could go on together (One of my parents used to have to wait with the buggy and, of course, my brother...)..... I also just had a soft spot for Nana the dog!

When i think of this ride I just remember "you can fly, you can fly, you can fly" My daughter was pooping herself on it, she did with every ride but that song sticks with her and she sings it frequently and peter pan is her favourite film now.

My favourite bit is when you're flying over London and look down and see the cars and buses going around the streets, superb detailing. I'm not sure why it is more popular than say Snow White or Pinocchio though

I can't believe it, Ive been on this ride loads and never noticed the cars and buses.I love this ride its so magical there's so much detail (obviously more than ive spotted.

I love the ride as well but would not wait ant length of time- I love the feeling of flying rather than sitting in a carriage like Snow White etc.

I love the twinkly music and hearing Peter Pan - off to neverland

That's the fabulous thing though isn't it, you can do a ride countless times and notice a new detail everytime, Phantom Manor is my favourite for it, I try to make a point of looking in different places, although I wish it would break down opposite the music room I'm sure there must be so much in there I've missed.

MY DDs and I enjoy riding this whereas DH is indifferent but we won't queue for it ~ we either fastpass it or ride it early when there is minimal queue. I don't know what is special about Peter Pan is it the music?? the feeling of flying?? I don't really know why we like it ~ we just do!!
