Dumb or not here I go!

I was planning on doing a 5K in June. I am out of shape but figured I could be in shape to do one in June. Well...my sister in law posted about on in Feburary she might be doing. So......I told her if she wanted some encourgament I would do it with her! What was I thinking???!!!! :rotfl: But it is a good excuse to be outside walking and my neighborhood is full of hills. Well I said I wanted to get into shape so here I go!

I'm really close to signing up for a 5K as well, because it definitely would be good motivation to continue to get in better shape for it. It's my goal in 2014 to do at least a couple races, so I'm currently searching the web for ones in my area that I can sign up for. My ultimate goal is to someday run one of the races in Disney. :)
 
We are doing the 5K in Feb too. DH, DS11 and myself will be walking, and DD14 is determined to run. I am hoping for good weather for the event.

Do it! I did my first 5k before I'd even finished my Couch-to-5k program and I did a lot better than I thought I would. Don't be afraid to walk part of the way if that's what your body needs. Good luck!
 

Thank you everyone! I think I will actually do better than I am thinking. I am walking my neighborhood which is all hills. It is completely flat where the race is! :woohoo: I have no plans to run it. I am walking! :yay: I have a show I can finally audition for and I will be super mad at myself if I screw up my knee.

That's a good idea! It would be a big help to have someone else motivating me and keeping me going. Right now, I'm looking at signing up for a race around Easter.

How far along are you in training? I did the Couch to 5k program back around May-July, and made it all the way through. However after that, since I wasn't actually training for any race, I stopped running for a while. When I tried to start back up, I could never run for as long as I did at the end of that. So I decided to completely restart the whole thing, and just finished Week 1. I can't wait for the weather to get a little warmer around here, because I need to start running outside, since everything I've done has been on a treadmill.
 
The race is in 7 weeks. Right now my process is really slow going. I live in an area that is basically ALL hills. If I want to walk somewhere that does not have hills I have to drive about 10 minutes down the hill. So hilly training here I come! :mad: Its good for endurance! Or so I keep telling myself. :lmao: I did another stupid thing. I gave up caffeine for the week. My sleep is so bad since my pregnancy, so I am trying to reset my body's clock. Cannot wait till this week is OVER! Happy training!!!!! :cheer2:
