Dumb Food & Wine Question

DB and I just got back from 3 days at food and wine and had such a great time! However, it left us with one nagging question, and I have no idea why it's bugging us so much, but here it is:

Why does all the mercy say 20th Anniversary, when the dates listed next to that are 1996-2015? I don't care what kind of math you're using...that's not 20 years.

I just counted it on my fingers. I got 20.

It is 20 years. Count 1996 as 1 and when you get to 2015, you'll be on 20. I promise. Try it.

Ok. The CM we asked said he was told to tell people that asked that it was "the 20th celebration of food and wine" but that he was pretty sure it was a misprint, lol. I guess we were just thinking of anniversary in the terms one would use for a relationship. The first one you celebrate after you're married isn't the 2nd, lol.
