Dumb Delta need to get in the 21st Century!

The only "guaranteed" seats I have ever had is where my company (previous) book first class / executive first etc..

Every other airline that I have travelled around the world with, only "reserve" the seats, and if you turn up late for check-in you will probably miss your reserve.

...and as for "DisneyHolic Family" being too scared to mention the name of their wonderful airline....

...you weren't those people behind me in the queue for "Tower of Terror" complaining that you didn't get your reserved seats on the front row, were you? :rotfl:

Maybe the point has been made well-enough? I think perhaps it would be best if we move past the "reserved seats" issue, now. :ssst:

No seat is absolutely guaranteed. If the equipment changes, for whatever
reason, and the substitute aircraft isn't the same configuration as the original then seat changes will have to be made.

The airline will try to reseat people according to there original seating request. How hard they try is probably related to status and fare.

At the end of the day you choose to sit where the airline tells you you can sit or you choose not to fly.

:) Chris, flying home from the USA tomorrow, and doing the SDD for next week and a job interview to fit in before we go.

obviously if they have to change equipment, your seat changes...
my 3:30 pm flight out of JFK was cancelled once (I don't know why), and I was moved by the airline to a 2:30 AM flight the next morning.....i never knew they had a 2:30 AM flight.....thank god they have a fantastic business lounge at JFK, with tons of food, since my connecting flight into JFK still got me there at about noon...
As it turned out, my seat wasn't changed since there were only 3 of us flying business or first class on that flight......there were 3 of us upstairs, where there are seats for 24....with the standard upstairs staff of 3 flight attendants...amusing since I never eat on planes, and the other two people didn't want to eat anything either...during the entire 12 hour flight....the flight attendants were practically begging us if they could prepare us something to eat....
anyway....obviously there are situations that will cause a seat change, but other than that....it's the seat you reserved, regardless of when you show up for the flight (in business and first, i have no clue how they run things in economy)....and no they will not move you for children, since small children aren't allowed upstairs....another reason for flying up there...

as for which airline or where i live, there have been so many obvious clues over the years, if you haven't figured it out yet.......

Please do tell me which airline this is, as a proud fathger of a three year old who is used to flying Buisness or First, I would like to put them on my "never use" list.
People who make generalised comments that children should not travel in certain cabins should look at the antics of so-called "adults" who can be a bigger PIA than any child.

Beth, if you really don't want to share the name of "your" airline, perhaps you could at least give a reason why? It seems a little ridiculous and immature keeping it such a secret. I would actually like to find out the name and read through their conditions regarding the seat guarantee policy.

I totally agree.

i totally agree about some adults... and being stuck with some of them in a little metal tube 6 miles up in the air for 12 hours can be challenging..

as for children, I'm happy to never be around children other than my own...(whose company I've always preferred to anyone else in the world other than my husband)...
flame me if you like......however, i did not make the comment that children shouldn't travel in certain cabins.....those are the rules on this particular airline....no children upstairs (unless downstairs is economy only - only in that case are children flying business class seated upstairs. - otherwise they only are permitted in the downstairs business /first class section).....and they are very strict about enforcing that rule....if for example a father is sitting upstairs, the flight attendants do not permit the children to come up to "visit".....as an aside, i've never understood parents who sit apart from their kids, but that's not relevant to this .....

the truth is, the upstairs section tends to be almost 100% men only....on our flight west in July, my daughter and I were the only females out of 24 passengers upstairs......that's pretty common on that route on the days we tend to fly....businessmen who commute to the US, flying 12 hours each way every week....that's a lot of flying...the airline does its utmost to keep those passengers content....and they do an excellent job of it...the service is excellent and improving all the time.....

Unfortunately, as a relavently recent member of this forum, I don't intend trawling through your years of posting history to work out weak cryptic clues to the identity of "your" airline. Either you tell us or you don't.

Maybe you just don't want us "riff-raff" flying with you, but hey, don't worry, I'll only be flying economy so I'll be downstairs partying with the rest of the "cattle" class.

A friend of mine used to work in the airline industry and worked with lots of different airlines in the UK, US and Saudi Arabia and she said she has not ever come across an airline with these rules or policies about Children or seat assignments.

im starting to wonder if this "fabulous" airline actually exists! Probably the reason why they wont say!!

have you flown it? i would never have believed it existed, had i not seen the planes with my own eyes when we were in the states this summer....

i guess by that you are not going to say who your airline is? why? as you obviously have such a good experience why not be nice and let others try it!

Chester, are you related to Kevin Stringer?!

Are we going to play guess the airline then? :hyper: Is there going to be a prize if one of us gets it right??

I think a free flight in First Class would be appropriate so that we can experience the wonderful customer service ;)

You and me both... not that I am calling her a liar I would just like to the see the evidence to back up her statement... and a reason to cross off 'the wonderful' discriminating airline of my list for future travel.

Ash :)
