Duff's Dumb-Luck Disney Trip (Pics Included!)

Just stopping by to say I am enjoying your report. It sounds like you had a great time.

Looking forward to hearing about your last day.(I always hate the last day!)

Debbie

I will probably post my last day on Wenseday! The last day it always the worst, wirki! I find myself having to go kicking and screaming back to reality.

Duff

What a great trip you had! I love how you got the Dream Fast Passes! :cool2:

We got to go to MVMCP this year too and loved it! it was the first time we'd been. We will definitely do it again. We did not get to see the Christmas show; the one where Sharkbait took exception to the horns. :scared: This will definitely be on our "must do" list next time.

Looking forward to posting of the last day! :3dglasses

Really enjoyed your report so far! I was down there on the same days you were enjoying the beautiful weather! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us all.

Happy New year!!

Rozz: Yeah, we felt pretty slick getting the Dream FP's. It also pretty much guarantees they will never laugh at my ideas again! :cool1:

byoung: Thanks for dropping by!

DisneyDadNy: The weather was perfect during that time! Cool enough to walk around the parks without being either freezing cold or burning hot. It is the greatest time of year.

Part Eight: We got the Golden Tickets....

So, it is our last day in the World. :sad1: We wake up a bit later this day and have a calm breakfast in the food court at All Stars. We all pretty much get junk food for breakfast since it is our last day of Mickey Food and having an excuse to eat junk. We decide to spend a half day in the parks before heading home, besides with our golden tickets we can ride a lot of things!

When we get to TTC we wait to ride in the very front of the monorail. There is just *something* about sitting up front and watching the castle come into view. :wizard: Today I am dressed in my Mickey Ears. Since it is only a 1/2 day I won't have to worry about them falling off too much.

We make it to MK at around 11:00 and head for the rides! We have 8 tickets which is perfect since Kay does not want to ride Splash Mountain. We head there first thing. We try to convince Kay to come but she hates getting wet and messing up her hair. She is a bit paranoid since she got hit by the water cannon the last time we were here.

Bubs and I hand over 2 of the golden tickets and hop right on! I spend my time searching for hidden mickey's while bubs plays with the camera. Now, the sweet thing about having a waterproof camera is that we can take our own ride photos on splash! :woohoo:

PC106943.jpg

Yep, that's 20$ saved.

After we are done with Splash we head over to Haunted Mansion. There is no line so we don't bother using the tickets here. HM is as fun as ever. After HM we decide to go hit up Pirates of the Carribean. We are getting all of our favorite rides in. We flash the passes to the CM at the entrance to POTC and she directs us to wait by a green door off to the side. We are feeling very V.I.P as a CM comes out to escort us through the back of pirates! Here are Kay and Bubs behind Pirates.

PC106949.jpg

When we walk in to get in our Boat one of the patrons in line summons the CM and starts reaming her a new one asking why he couldn't FP the ride. She tries to explain about the particular passes we had but he pulls out his disability card.... to which the CM explains that since POTC is perfectly handicapped accessible he must wait equally. He has his mom in a wheelchair in front of him. He starts pointing to us saying that we aren't handicapped and making some remarks about us. This guy was *MAD*. We felt so bad for the CM, We didn't mean to cause trouble for the CM. :guilty: We quickly hop on the boat hoping that with us out of visual range the guy will cease his rant. Besides, he is close to the front and we don't want to have the share a boat with him. Why rant if you are on the next boat anyway? We only dodged a 20 minute wait.

With Pirates done and having had a pleasant ride we decide to use our last golden tickets on BTMRR. As we are walking up to the ride we see a truly terrifying sight. Oh.... My.. God. Please say it isn't so. NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Not a Brazilian tour group!!!!! We hand over the tickets and get into the FP lane and are sandwiched among the tour group. They are singing some chants and all appear to be teenagers. They also appear to be 80% female to boot.

I have to admit, we have had bad experiences with tour groups in the past and were expecting the worst. Then something unexpected happened. They were very polite. They wanted to all ride together (they were in FP lane as well since their guides got FP's for all), so they were letting people pass and waiting for their friends. Funny, I have never known a brazilian tour group to say excuse me or observe common rules of lines. Then I started understanding them, just words here and there. OOhhhhh!!! They aren't Brazilian! That explains it! They are from another Latin Country. :rotfl: They are polite bunch and thank each person who passes them. When they all get together they proceed.

As it turns it out Kay and I went on one train while Bubs was on a different train. We were in the smack middle of the group. Our two trains were entirely the tourgroup with one extra row in each (which was us). As soon as we hop on the train they start clapping and chanting but that is Ok! They appear to be a nice group and it kinda reminds me of when my old summer camp would let the CIT's take a trip out.

PC106955.jpg

Now, this next thing may not be considered DUMB LUCK to everyone, but it was for my group. We are riding through thunder mountain, chanting along with the tour group (When in Rome, right?). Having a blast when we pop out of the cave and come to a harsh stop. Uuh, this isn't the norm. The girls attempt to push the train forward by chanting again "Aye! Aye! Respole!" but it is of no use. They look pretty confused. We look across the way and see a train at a dead stop on the incline.

We are stuck. Kay dials Bub's on his cell phone while I try out my spanish on the girls in front of us.(I know a little, just enough to survive in Miami) They are a group from various places, Respole is their travel Agency, and all of them are here for their Quince's. Apparently they will be in Miami in 2 more days and are worried about being able to communicate. I assure them they will have no language barriers there. The two girls in front of me have fun practicing their English and we actually have a cool chat as we learn their cheer. They say the tour guides taught everyone a few phrases : "Hello", "excuse me", "Thankyou", "Please", and "How do I go to...". I suppose that is enough to survive for a few days.

*** Note*** For those not familiar with spanish culture a "Quince" is a Sweet 15. It is exactly like a Sweet 16 in america, just one year earlier. Traditionally it is a formal party that looks a bit like a wedding but it is common now for girls to get trips instead. This is what our group is composed of. One big roaming birthday bash.***********

Then two CM's come walking toward us. We have to evacuate BTMRR. Kay and I are thrilled! We have never walked out of a ride before and a hiking excursion through BTMRR sounds like fun! The girls don't speak much English so I explain to them about having to get out and they are sad.... but then the CM says we will all be getting Golden Tickets for our trouble! Ha ha ha!!!! More golden tickets!! What DUMB LUCK! A cool hike through BTMRR and more Tickets! Ha ha ha.... maniacal laughter ensues.

I explain the tickets to the group and they are much happier and we all hike out. It was actually really fun hiking through the mountain and up to the loading area. The people at the station asked us where our train went. We told them we just parked it and hiked in. Now... I would have nice pics of the Hike but Kay (I know you read this Kay!!!) Is being stingy with her photos. However we take an absolutely stupid amount of pics of the empty train and all the kids with their matching backpacks hiking through the mountain in a straight line. It was a cute scene.

Bubs is on the train on the incline and also takes a cool hike. Only he gets taken under BTMRR through the boiler room and gets to see the 'brain' of the ride. The only pic that came out real good was the backside of the mountain. Kinda anti-climactic but here goes.

PC106960.jpg

We get out of the ride with 3 more golden tickets. What Dumb Luck! We all loved the hike through BTMRR as it was a new experience. Bubs especially had fun seing the boiler room. He also served as translator for his half of the tour group since he is fluent. I bet the CM's were glad to have a translator in each train! :lmao: We wave goodbye to our new friends and part ways.

We decide to use our last Golden Tickets on Snow White before heading home. It was the only Fantasy Land ride that we had wanted to ride but did not ride the evening before. We get there, hand over the passes, and hop right on. I try to get a few pictures in Snow but it is hard since I don't believe in using Flash. ( a constant source of annoyance to Bubs that I will mess with settings for 10 minutes to avoid using flash) Bubs takes the camera and snaps photos for me since Snow White is a sentimental favorite of mine.

PC106972.jpg

Sadly it is now 2:00 and time for us to head home if we want to get there before dark. It is long sad, slow, walk out of the park. We all snap pictures on the way out. Hoping to perhaps stall for just a few moments longer. Trying our hardest to burn the image of the castle into our brains and turn the feelings of the moment into a memory that can be recalled any time. We include one picture of me 'crying' on the way out.

PC106984.jpg

Going home stinks.... that was the last picture before walking out of the gates and not coming back. We go out the gates, then head back to All Stars to get our cars. We hug goodbye and then start the long drive to our respective homes. So, with this my lowly little trip report ends!

For such a short trip we sure managed a lot of really awesome experiences. Dumb Luck was truly our theme this trip!! The private parade viewing, the dream FP's, Golden Tickets, It was all so full of Disney Magic. :wizard: Yet I suppose it all must end sometime...

Now... If anyone truly enjoyed reading this be sure to keep an eye out for our next trip. You see, the passes Bubs and I have are only good for a short while longer. In 3 weeks we will be taking "The trip tho end all trips". Literally! It will a be 5 day Disney extravaganza with a Keys to the Kingdom tour! We will be flying high class and staying at the Poly. We will also make many sacrifices to Lapu Lapu. So look out for a new trip report in the future!! Thankyou everyone for taking the time to read my report!

Flying!?!?!?!?! I hope to god you are kidding about that one!

The trip was great. you forgot to plug Hoop De Doo and further sacrifices to the Rib and Fried Chicken Gods:lmao:

You did a great job your TR; I enjoyed every bit of it. I would love to be within 3 hours of the Mouse's house (we currenlty live 16 hours away). My goal is to work at WDW when I retire.

Looking forward to your next TR. Will it be sometime around the end of January?

We go next Jan 25-30! The TR will will follow shortly after... Oh the suspense!

Thank you for sharing your trip with us...can't wait for the next one. :cheer2:

Thanks Duff!

I enjoyed reading your TR and looking at the pics. This was my 20 minute escape at work every day.

Looking forward to the next one.
