With our upcoming trip I am considering getting some new luggage. We have a few hodgepodge pieces that we currently travel with but since our next trip is going to have some logistical issues (3 nights All Star Movies, then the 4 night cruise then back to AKL for 2 nights, plus 4 days driving with a 3.5 y/o and a 1 y/o) I wanted to split my luggage into different bags for each "leg" of the trip as much as possible. With all that packing and unpacking I need to make it as simple as possible.

I like the looks of some of these "duffel" bag type luggage pieces. Does anyone have any good recommendations. Can you get quiet a lot of stuff in them? I was thinking a duffel style would really be nice on the cruise but who knows.

Here is a Samsonite 32" duffel on wheels that I particularly liked:

check out the LLBean duffle on wheels collection too!
I have the (much older) model that my parents gave to me when I graduated from highschool...10 years ago. the stuff has held up VERY well.

EMS makes some too...I have a 'regular' duffel (no wheels) in the large and it holds ALOT.

We have the large duffle-type luggage from Lands End. It is not on wheels but really looks like a duffle bag. Not sure what it is called. We have 3 of those and they work great for our family of 4. At this time I use one for the kids (6 & 11) and DH & I each get our own, but since we don't fill them we stuff them full of whatever is left over, such as the toiletries bags. On the way home we stuff them with the extra "stuff" we accumulate. I like the way you can really cram stuff in! :) But for the nicer clothes for a cruise, I would probably consider one like the picture you show.

Good luck! :)

I want to get a garmet bag for the nicer clothes for the cruise. The duffels would just be for the other stuff...our park clothes and all the associate stuff you need to travel with when you have little kids. :)

If you are fussy about wrinkles, then I would think that you would need to pack carefully. Packing cubes would work well it a duffle because they hold your clothes to tightly that you can pack them on their sides. I had to give up using my big suitcase with shelves, etc. I absolutely loved it but I tended to put too much in it and it was a challenge to keep it below 50 pounds. I do better with a 24 inch expandable. Be careful with anything 32 inches. It would be easy to exceed the wt. limit. I have a rolling duffle that we use for snorkel gear, boxed cereal, condiments, etc when we go to Hawaii.

Just remember that the airlines are getting stricter about weight and size limits. DH had to pay extra the last time he flew. I met him, and had to make sure I had room in my bag for some of his stuff, which involved weighing MY bag at home and repacking.

We went to WDW in July with DH's brother's family. I warned my sister in law to watch the weights on her luggage. BIL didn't listen. They took a really big 27 inch suitcase. When we got to the airport one was 5 pounds over. He was all set to pay but I was checked in already and I am so cheap that I zipped open their luggage and helped them redistribute the weight, thus saving $25. That's why I had to go to a smaller piece. I have very little self discipline when it comes to packing. ;) In fact, I think that is why there are good sales on larger luggage pieces.

I just got in a Henley Helium rolling duffle bag from ebags.com. I love it, so I ordered another one today because there's a additional 10% discount on the site today.

(I got the one that's $89.99, not the one that's over $150; I don't know anything about that expensive one)

DD (21) has a Eddie Bauer one and she has trouble wiht it tipping sideways for her on uneven surfaces.

I could OPEN MY OWN STORE! :rolleyes1 However, my DS took 2 of my best pieces overseas in Oct. and I ordered a replacement yesterday from Ebags--LOVE this site!
