Dues payment question....

Dues are due on jan. 15...

It is past due after feb. 14...

What happen between jan 15 and feb. 14 ?

Why should I pay my dues on jan. 15 when I can pay them on feb. 13 with no penalty ? Am I missing something ? I am new with DVC and this is my first time I have to pay dues...

No different than your mortgage payment - there is a grace period built in before they charge a penalty. There is always a risk (probably low to non-existent with DVC, but I don't know that) that you will be marked as paying late if you don't pay on the due date though, so I pay things when they are due.

We pay in a lump sum - have since we purchased in 1999. Always pay in February. Never had a problem.

I prefer to call Member Accounting to pay my dues since I don't trust the website 100%. Also, I use our Disney Visa Rewards as a partial payment. Easier to call than try to do it online. Phones are way too busy to call in January, so that's why I wait until February.

I think the one thing you need to be careful of is if you are checking in after Jan 15 is your dues must be paid or monthly payments arranged.

That's a good point and we had that exact situation last year - we checked in on 1/22 and I remember making sure my dues were paid before we left so we didn't have any problems.

I paid today using Visa Rewards Card for a portion and Disney Visa for the balance. I don't have a problem doing things like this on the internet. I pay all my bills online. However, I had to call to make this payment because it did not appear that you can split your payment between two sources on the DVC website.

I know I asked this same question last year on this date but just to double check....if we've always had our dues taken out monthly that will continue automatically into 2011 correct? Today's the first and they didn't come out of our bank account. Will they not come out till the 15th this month?

Yes, it will continue automatically until you call and request a change.

Assuming your dues normally come out on the 1st of the month, check tomorrow. Some banks do not process auto payments on Holidays.

You have until the 14th of Feb before you are assessed a late fee so just make sure they receive it by then.

AFAIK, the monthly payments are autodrafted from your account so you couldn't just do that without working it out in advance with Member Accounting.
