Will I be able to stay without my dues being paid until February 1? We are traveling Jan 24-30 and want to use any left over gift cards towards payment.
Technically, the grace period ends on 2/14/16. If you pay on 2/15/16, you'll pay penalties. I found that out the hard way.1/15/2016 but there's a grace period to 2/15/2016.
I heard that you can pay with the DVA but what is the advantage of doing that if paying for dues will not qualify you towards the $20 bonus? In case anyone is wondering, I was able to use my Disney Vacation Account to pay my dues. Just tell them you are paying with a giftcard.

But you can now combine gift cards themselves. The DVA allows you to aggregate Disney gift cards. So, throughout the year, if you can get Disney gift cards for less than face value and you put them in your DVA and pay dues with them, it's equivalent to paying your dues at a discount.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Now, if there was a chance we could earn the extra $20 per $1,000 then I would use it for my dues. I opened a DVA Last spring and have used it for tickets, but that's it so far.Yes, you can. As mentioned they are not considered late until mid February.
Agreed. Now that the DVA isn't the only way to combine cards it isn't necessarily going to help any more than using the website to combine GCs instead. And combining GCs does not have the same rules and restrictions that the DVA does and will likely be the best route for most people.

Great, thanks for letting me know. I will try it too. There is a chance, so that's how I'll continue to pay dues. I got the bonus last year. The cards have to be entered manually whether you are combining them or loading to DVA, so it's a no brainer for me. After paying one contract with the DVA this year already, the transaction description is showing as a "purchase", which is exactly what it shows for a qualifying ticket purchase and also what it showed last year. I'm not out anything if I don't get it this year, but at least on the surface, I'm not seeing any changes.
boy guess no ones does the old fashion way - DVC automatically takes it out of my bank account monthly.
so guess going with a DVA account and using gift cards is a better way - takes longer - but hey you are saving money.

I wouldn't consider paying monthly to be the "old fashion way." Paying for anything monthly hides the true cost. That's why car salesmen try to work with you to find the right monthly payment, rather than actually negotiating the price of the car.boy guess no ones does the old fashion way - DVC automatically takes it out of my bank account monthly.

That is a good point about the interest. With the various ways to get discounts or rebates (credit card rewards), I can easily overcome the value of that benefit, but many people probably wouldn't bother. But the timing can help at tax time. Some years I want to pay in December, and some years I want to pay in January. You don't have control of timing when you pay monthly. But, again, that probably doesn't affect the majority of owners.I don't really get that. I suppose it hides the true cost for someone that doesn't pay attention, but I am completely aware of the cost in my annual/monthly budget. I just figured since they don't charge interest to pay the dues over a period of 12 months, why not take advantage versus having yet another December/January bill.
